i know this may be the wrong place, but some might be able to help me out. as most would know i have broken my throttle cable (after buying 4 spare clutch cables incase mine broke again) anyway the wire basically was pulled out of the cylinder peace that you put into the throttle grip/pastic. so i tried to place it back into the hole and get the oxy out and melt some silver solder in it, as i assume that was what it was made out off, it got hot and wrecked that little thing, so i made up another one but out of the metal they use in bolds (ground and cut down bolt to fit which had a small hole in the inside)... the silver solder unfortunatly does not stick!!!

what could i do to get it to stay put?

im willing to get a few new ones but untill then id like to make do with what was on it... so any ideas?

AFAIK the nipple is made out of lead

try a bike shop i seem to recall being able to buy the inner cable and the nipples, a push bike shop might be more helpful on this one

hmm not sure how it is on the throttle cable
is it the same as the brake cable ?

Buying a new one may be best but if you have a push bike store nearby, go ask for those screwable nipples (damn, excuse my description - and dont ever ask the pushbike shop using this term). This is a piece of aluminum or steel that you can slip your cable in and tighten a screw at the end to hold the cable in place. I believe the size of it would fit the plastic throttle thingy.

Explain to the pushbike salesman that you need to put an end to a cable, thats it. It's for bicycle brakes.

i would have to aggree on getting some form of replacment, if it be a replacment cable or replacment nipple as redstar suggested. too much fu*king around trying to fix it when it could be easily repaired with a new part (well hopefully anyway)

if you dont have time the other option is to get this bolt that you cut and drilled before, (or the old nipple if you still have it.) now drill right through it and slide the cable in, then back around towards itself, then you get a metal clip, they look like a c shape with small teeth at 4 points. put this in place and tighten down with a pair of plyers and then pull on the nipple just to make sure its tight. you might want to put a drop of solder or something on there just to hold it steady. i have added a diagram of what im talking about. i did this on a brake on my old bmx, worked wikked. to my knowledge its still on there to this day and i did this repair a good 6 years ago.

never tried this on a throttle though but it should work fine.

save ur self the heart ache crazy 1... if u bodge it with one of those metal crimp clips that go on the end of bike brake cables it could slip off fall into the body of the carby and be sucked into the motor very easily

I believe he needs it for the throttle grip end, and not the carby end. Hence mine and Bones' suggestion.
