Can anyone tell me if it's worth putting a 47t rear sprocket on a hummer 250cc and will this increase overall performance of the bike ie more top end speed and a longer first gear.

Sorry don't know about that its not really a mini...

why did u get one of those bikes. er hate to say it. but i love to hate those

Parts a readily available for those bikes if you know where to look and the reason i got one is just to get out there and have some fun with my kids they have the atomik i'm actually saving for a honda crf 250 2007 model at the moment the hummer is a muck around for the time being but all in all extremely surprised with it so far i thrash it around a bit and havent had a problem goes pretty good bit heavy but o.k.

Wrong site mate, this is "miniriders" for a reason, those nugget hunks aren't classified as a mini.

Mitch

its simple a smaller rear sprocket will increase top speeds its only common sense, like everyone else has posted not many people will give you information on that 250 as the site is dedicated to pit bikes.
cheers

but its also simple to relize that you have to replace two rear sprokets for every 1 front sproket but also that every 7 teeth on the rear sprocket is the same as 1 on the front so do the math but every1 is right about less teeth will give you more speed but less torque so its up to u

and some ppl also have to get over the fact that hummers arent mini they still work on the same princibles as a mini so stop wasting ppls time and learn what ya talking about
good question chris
and every body else get over youre minis there all bikes:)
theres not many websites that help you out as much as this 1 so why waste in on just minis

Ive put a 47 tooth on both my daughters 200 and my 250 it is better, but most importantly it makes it a much better bike to ride not having to change gears every 60 feet!

Hmm well I don't know what effect a bigger sprocket would have on a 250cc but it was terrible on my 125. Just reved out too fast, not much more power and a much slower top speed.

WOMBAT said it the best!!! Chris check out this topic for info regarding the Hummer series of bikes. a few members on here have them and are really pleased, but on the same note some are not so happy.
There is one thing we all have in common and that is the LOVE of bikes, Telling someone WRONG SITE, or YOUR BIKE IS CRAP isnt going to benifit the site, or the sport. Doing this not only makes you look like a tool, but reflects badly on us, the community. We are here to help each other.. so why not start doing so...
Good luck with finding the information you require Chris If you have any trouble Ask away, and remember to Ignore those BELOW your own mentality.

Flarry, putting a Bigger rear sproket on ANY bike will not increase top speed!! acceleration only, same goes for dropping a tooth or two at the front.

Possibly the simplest way to explain this is to go back to basics and use a MTB with gears as an example..

littlest on front, biggest on back, pedal your heart out n climb Mt everest, but try to get any decent speed and you will soon be knackered..
Turn the tables and go Biggest gear on front and littlest on the back and you will be off off and away... just steer clear of them steeper hills!
Comprende!? :D

Yes, I know that, I understand how it works I'm just saying it was a big difference and I was expecting the top speed to be slower just not that much and I didnt like it.
