Hi guys.
I own an atomik blitz 250cc and had to replace the throttle handle because the original one was crap and kept jamming. Now i have a new one which is a bit better but still not awesome.

A few questions:

1. Will any jap bike throttles fit it?
2. Im struggling to adjust the cable using solder...is there a trick to it?
3. The cable splits into 2 about half way down in a little junction box thing made out of plastic. The cable ends keep slipping out of it making it impossible to ride(and an absolute mother to fix). What do you call these splitter things? Are there any after market ones available? Or perhaps a jap throttle set up that would work?

thanks in advance

;eek: your cable has a splitter? is it a two stroke or does it have twin carbs? otherwise, throw it away....

um. soldering cable ends. use a blowtorch and use silversolder:) much stronger. can use just plain electrical solder, though it has a tendency to let go...but its only a throttle, should be fine:)whatever, use a blowtorch... a small one:) and dip the tip of the cable in hydrochloric(pool) acid

any jap assembly will fit, as long as the bar diameter is the same:)

the cable splits into 2 cables about halfway down. one end then pulls the pin and one rotates something on the side of the carb. Its a 4stroke.

A guy at a bike shop told me that on jap bikes one cable would push and the other pulled. True? Mine obviously both pull.

Cheers for the tip on the solder. I should be able to get it going once I find a way of splitting the cable.

Ideally I would still like to replace the cable and the throttle handle completely but wouldnt know what to buy.

what the hell sort of carbie have you got?

pin? is this the choke piston(and why the hell that would be pulled on with the throttle, i dunno) or the slide? but it doesnt sound like it has a slide, sounds like a butterfly if its rotating something...

hang on. its a pumper carbie? this could be it.

me, myself and the git over there would be looking at getting a different carbie with just one cable thingy, would be much easier... something like either a 30mm slide or even a CV carbie(cv are very smooth)

the guy at the bike shops right...about road bikes at least....most of those throttles have a push pull cable set up...something to do with if the return spring fails, you can still deaccelerate.... very handy when youve got 150 horses...

and lasrt one, with the splitters...pushy shop, and cable detangler off a freestyle bmx... you only need the cable for oe, and theres various lengths. im not to sure if they have the travel youll need though.

theres also bikes like the honda cb's...early ones that still had twin carbs that werent linked/synchronised(*******, its why they went to the effort of linking them together or using single carbs) that use cable splitters...but are getting very hard to find now, especially new parts.

pics please????side on and one down the throat:) from the back end of it:)

motoxspares...local...where are you from?

i still say look for a better carbie, myself... two cables just sounds stupid...

Cherrybrook
Heres some pics of where the 2nd cable goes to and the part it moves(no idea what it does internally)

And can someone please tell me WTF that cable tied plastic tube is for? The bike dies on its ass unless its cable tied and it seems be completely pointless!

Thanks for the help :)

well its not completly useless if it keeps your bike running..i think it opens up to let fule into the bowl?? well thats what it looks like.(internaly of curse)

dude do not undo that cable tied pipe.

i cant really work out what im looking at in the pic but from what i gather the metal pipe which has the zip tied tube on it is going down to the engine correct?

i have no idea why you'd have a breather there, but if you undo it the bikes going to be sucking in unfiltered air (and dirt) into your engine, at the same time its going to be adding a shitload more air to your already mixed air+fuel ratio which is why your bike would be dying.
moral of the story - make sure that hole is properly covered at all times.

as for the carby i have no idea wtf that is, i guess havent been around bikes long enough..

obviously the curved one is opening the butterfly valve, same on all carbies, but the pin...

like headsmess said if you want to get rid of the double cable thing you're going to need to replace the carbie. you could buy one off ebay.
you said cherrybrook - as in NSW? next to castle hill? go to victoria avenue and theres a motorbike shop there in the complex across the road from the push bike shop - called MAW. they might be able to help you out, but i've found that a lot of normal moto shops dont like to touch chinas.

hope that helps

I think thats an accelerator pump, so the bike doesn't bog down when you crack open the throttle

chinabrook:p im down in dural:)

um, and down hoyle ave is motoxspares, that does the chinas;) parts, anyway...sometimes. if they have one...
and that hose is a vacuum line. why it has one is weird. for tuning? i dont know. normal on a twin, but on a single????.... and very dodgy way of sealing it... find a cap for it somewhere...if you could be bothered.(and dude, the bikes not dying@twisties;) just finding a cable)

right. thats a pumper carbie. has a regular slide and a piston pump running off that crank thingy.
you could run just the slide with no problems, the pump just adds extra fuel for when you snap the throttle open. try it with just a single cable on the slide, and see how it goes. you probably wont notice anything different... and if you do, well. put it back on then...

(and dude, the bikes not dying@twisties;) just finding a cable)
your in dural? im in baulkham hills :)
p.s. i dont get what you mean by the bikes not dying? i thought he wanted to get rid of the double cable setup so i suggested buying a new carb?

well when i say pin i mean the big spike that the first cable attaches to that goes right into the top of the carbie.

And yes the breather tube comes out of the bottom of the pipe running from carby to engine. Seems to be completely pointless.

Anyway today im going to go get a new cable (same ****** china one) from the shop and adjust it with the soldering method mentioned above. It should keep me going for a while.

Perhaps i could take a jap bikes carby cables and throttle handle?

oooo locals! So where do you guys ride? im getting a bit bored of pacific park.
Thats why im sorta interested in getting a road reg bike
