the other day i hit a jump in 3rd gear and when I landed there was a loud ticking sound coming from the engine. I shifted down to 2nd and the ticking stopped- it'll only tick in 3rd gear. The ticking is in sinc with the rpms and it ticks even with the clutch engaged. Has anyone else experienced a problem like/similar to this?? Is my tranny broken?
Thanks,

Gear box is toast dude, If its only in that gear its definitely the box. Standard issue on 99% of china built motors is a weak 3rd gear. Got Warranty? Use it. Otherwise get yourself an outlaw motor from motovert for $999.

edzt how much hp do you get from one of these lifan 138cc's..?? fromt he motovert outlaw (which is actually a jailing (GPX) as far as i know) you get 12.3hp, which is quite good for 999 and you get the reliability of it being a GPX.

both motors are worth considering. all depends on how much cash you got and what your willing to spend.

Cheers, Tony.

EDIT: thanks for update no-fear, i was drunk (i think :() at the time i made this post. :D must have read it wrong or something.

well ive heard 12hp for the lifan for 600 less but now im reseaching and everyone is saying different
and not every onee has a spare grand just sitting around

the motovert outlaw (which is actually a jailing (GPX) as far as i know) you get 13.8hp, which is quite good for 999 and you get the reliability of it being a GPX.

On mojo web site they have a dyno which states 12.3hp. Where are you getting 13.8 from??

No it might just be the valves, it did it with my coon wagon. tic tic tic itc tic

12.3hp from a in the box china motor... yeah right.. alot of work has to been done to get jailings upto 12hp and these so called 138's are only 127's anyways from whats ive found on the subject, live and reasearch on ebay and you'l beleive anything...

The china importers will out do anything else and make outragous claims because who's going to wack it on a dyno and check ? Not the average bloke thats for sure.

As for the ticking , i wouldn't worry about it.... keep on riding, maybe dump the oil first and check for metal but either way its not worth the hassel opening the motor up when they are so cheap.

Ive had a ticking noise in my motor along time ago and it comes and goes..

eehhhh?!?!? the mojo engines are proved to have 12.3hp (stock) they did their own Dyno with this engine (which is also on their web site), hc piston, race cam, 26mm carby, irk, balanced & lightened crank, large intake valves. This motor also states 14cc which says 138cm3 on the head of the bike.
if you want me to take pics, i will, put my brothers Mojo engine in last night.

Allot of the 138's have been measured and found to be only 127cc ... just a word of caution.

I'd Wanna see a video of the dyno before i believe a scanned dyno printout.

Are you talking about the OHC valves? Did your bike tick whenever the engine was running, or only in a specific gear? I'll prop up my bike and run in 3rd gear and try to find out if the sound's coming from the crank case, or OHC. If it does happen to be the valves, what would 3rd gear have to do with it?

these are genuine Mojo engines, bore of 54mm stroke of 57mm.

Eichay the Ebey importers have the 127cc bikes advertised as 138cc but i'm sure the mojos are actually 138cc and not just marked up!

Sorry but im very skeptical on the subject... i'll let the others buy them first and read about it before i hand over 1k.

buy it and if it's false advertising u can sue them for all they are worth. try it.
but this is a gen 138cc

The outlaw motor in the Motovert is not a GPX/Jialing, it is manufactured by YXmotorsports and is based on any of the known brands.
