Vic Riding spot question

Hey guys,

Sorry for so many threads. But i have to ask this.
Ok now there is a spot that i ride at which is awesome Tracks ever where.
But i am confused on whether it is legal or not. So while riding i saw a undercover copper so i flagged him down and asked if i was allowed to ride there, now he said yea you can but don't go doing stupid things like burnouts and make a racket. So i thought fair enough.
And now i have a guy saying at a pit bike shop that some kids got there bikes taken off them. I only got my bike just over a month ago i don't want to lose it. I don't really want to say where it is as i don't want someone to dob me in.
I also really don't want to give you guys a bad name, so if someone can clarify this for me that would be great.

its probably not 100% legal but the undercover bloke was pretty much saying that if you make us come down there (annoy the neighbours and cause alot of noise or abuse the property) then you will get in trouble..
but if there are no complaints he will turn a blind eye for the sake of fun..

really the best place to ride would be with us at frankston mx track or somthing

i believe you get 3 warnings then they take the bike.. depends on how it all goes down..

lets say the cops rock up and you take off in a mad rush and make them chase you.. your likley to loose your bike.
lets say you stop, turn off your bike and have a chat with them then its more likley to end with a "formal warning" that can maybe decide the fate of your bike next time if they decide to search your name.

i think thats how it goes, im no legal advisory nor do i condone anything or have i known/been affiliated with anything about anything and really i am a ninja turtle (mikelangelo) with a high speed internet connection

Yea i just enjoy riding, i will happily stop and shut off my bike. Thanks for info though.

Is it OK? Thats up to you. Is it actually legal? From what you've said that would be a no. Unless your on private land with permission from the owner OR you are licensed, have the bike rec reg'd(or a full reg'd complianced bike) and are riding in state forrests,etc its technically illegal. If you do it just remember there is a chance you could get fined or even lose your bike. Not trying to sound like a ****, i mean everyone of us has done it atleast once but some cops are pretty easy going about it if your just going for a ride and not annoying anyone, but some are absolute pricks and will go after you for any little breach of the law they can get you for. On my first dirtbike years ago, had 2 coppers on bikes pull up to me and my mate where we'd stopped for a breather and fine us for trivial crap probably just to make their quota. We were both licenced, on fully road registered bikes, riding in an area we were allowed to 20k's from the nearest town. I got fined for unroadworthy tyres as i had knobbies fitted and my mate got done for a broken indicator from a fall he had earlier in the day. We were friendly to them, didnt give them any attitude whatsoever as we thought they were just stopping for a chat. That being said i have had atleast a dozen other encounters with the boys in blue in the bush and never had a problem. Just gotta keep in the back of your mind, if its not 100% legal theres always a chance of getting a copper with a bad personality or just having a bad day screwing you down to the full extent of the law

Thanks for your input guys, the cops up here are really good and nice. And i know them well so i suppose i will just go to some tracks. or i will go and ask people with large property if i can ride there.
Thanks for all the help i would rather be told by you guys that i may lose my bike rather then a copper takeing it from me.

Haha, I am certainly not a chick.
Yea a ride day would be good, but im over the other side of frankston. I live out bacchus marsh way. Parwan is apparently really good, they have remade there pitty track with better jumps from what a pit bike shop has said.
I also see we have the same name Zac although mine is Zach.
