What gauge steel should be used when building a frame for a 125cc Lifan. I was planning on using 11 gauge but then started thinking about if that was too thick and would add too much weight to the bike. I am planning on using a combination of rectangle (2" x 1") and square (1") tubing. All comments welcome. Thanks.

it would depend on what type of vehicle you are making.. ie: on or off road

2-3mm tube would be heaps for off road 2mm would do for on road, but the magic is in the design

take a differential, in standard passenger cars diffs are constructed of thick wall tube. in professional race cars like v8 supercars the diff is made from sheet metal but braced in the right area's...

Thanks for the reply. I am planning for it to be on road. The design that i have draw up is based off of the smaller pocket bikes but scaled to be more of a mid-size bike. I've been trying to locate some of the other 110 -125cc frames to look at but i havent been able to find anything that has been much help.
