what side cover to take of to check kickstart gears

hey guys ive got a very funny feeling that i have no kickstart gears left when i kick it theres nothin that it grabs onto the kickstarter just goes down up down up and does not catch onto any gears so im gunna take the side cover off do i take the one that the kick start gears are on that side cover or the one on the opposite side to check the gears...???

and also is there anything i have to watch out for that will come loose or fly out of spring out or anything like that...???

thats a pic of the repair kit that maylands sells, looks like a RH case to me, so yeah the side your kick starter is on
