what sort of motor do i have ?

Hi Guys,
just wondering if anyone can help me out, working on a motor at the moment, it says it is a 1P56FMJ-5, just wanting to know what this motor actually is, after reading a few posts it seems like its made from a few different bits and pieces. Wanting to buy new centre case for it so need to know what brand, size etc.. Any help would be greatly appreciated

can you post a pic of both sides of the engine, and maybe tell us what brand of bike the engine is in..

sometimes engine numbers can be confusing.

but it sounds like a 150 lifan engine...

thanks for replying man, its out of a atomik reign bigfoot, got some photos for ya to look at, have already started taking it apart so i hope they are ok !

it's YX 150..... they are know to crack the center casings thanks to a design flaw, once you fix it you need to learn how to kick it properly to avoid kickback nad get an ORK for it so you can retard the timing

yep its a yx150 (daytona style) lifan 150 cases are different

have fun getting a case for it.. youll more than likely have to go to atomik to get one..
and since you are in tassie it makes it hard...

on a side note tho, you may find that a yx140 case will be the same..(not 100% positive tho, do some homework first)
same bottom end just different crank and clutch cover....

just make sure that when you repair it also add an adjustable outer rotor kit. that will kill the chances of it happening again. and learn how to start it properly...

think you need to research your answer a little more mate...
atomik's come with lifan 150 copies(yx150dt-5)

how do you tell? simple really..the most obvious is the clutch cover has the oil filler hole in a different location.
and when you sit down with 2 pics or engines you really start to see the differences..
oil cooler bolts are in a different location
the outer clutch cover (small one) is different
and the filter cover is different...

and when you read the ebay descriptions properly they actually tell you there YX engines

what flaws??...if you can't start your engine properly you will have problems with all HC engines...the yxdaytona clone and the lifan150 got the same bottomend, only the crank ends are different!

im going to have to argue the fact that the cases are different...

i repaired a yx150 daytona about 3 months ago, couldnt find a yx150 center case anywhere so i bought a lifan 150 case...

guess what didnt fit.. the bearing for the counter shaft was a different size...i should of realized prior to buying the lifan case as lifan takes a bigger front sprocket there for the counter shaft is totally different..

the bearing journal in the lifan case was like in the updated yx cases(needle roller bearing)
so im guessing maybe there are also gen1 and gen2 versions of the lifan..

i cant find any lifan 150 pics to compare at the moment but ill keep searching
