i went riding yesturday an then about 2 hours into it i got to this part of the paddock that is a little ruffer then the other areas i wasnt goin flat stick an the rear tyre went flat i figured oh ok i got something stuck in the tyre so got home took the rear tyre off an nothing was stuck in it but the tube had a little hole so i repaired it an went riding today but got to the same place were i was last time an it went flat again
so.. my question is why is this happening?? how can i stop this is it just that the tyre is bending on the rim cause of the ruffer ground??

any help guys?

p.s i cracked the ***** when it happened again today to took my anger out on my yammy125 an ****** the seals in the forks lol

Maybe run an old tube between spokes and tube could be ya spokes .

oh yeah sweet well i try that when i get a new one thanks
could it be anything else??

If they are the innertubes that came with your bike they could be just be wearing out.

The ones that came with mine and my brothers bike were verry poor quality and wore out where it had been rubbing on the tyre. After having numerous punctures in that short time, we have both invested in some quality tube and we are both yet to get another puncture and that was some 4+ months ago.

Do youself a favour and buy a couple of decent innertubes and you will probably not have to worry about this happening again for a long time ;)

No wuckas mate glad to help

Make sure ya tyre pressure is cool and it's not low that'll do it if you hit a rock at speed...that and make sure you tighten your spokes .Other than that not sure mate but someone will if that don't sort it .

off topic but funny thing on my jr50 i was feeling the tyre and it must of been twisted because it all was hard and then about 2 inches wide a bit of it was flat and you could push it down,

goodluck fixin ya problemo

i just fixed me hole in me magneto, took her for a spin on the road, poped me tube 100m from home, didnt even no it poped till i took a corner.....
she got a bit sideways, and i was like wtf this is awsome.. this is like the 4th time ive done me tube in 6 months, it looks like the rim cuts my valve off under heavy acceleration... what to do?

i took my bike out for a spin yesterday and my mate said i needed to take some air out of me tubes so he went a head and did it and let the back down to much ,i didnt know so i kept riding then i was told i had a flat and made the kid who let my tyre down push it all the way back to the garage which was like a few kilometers away all up hill in the sun ,so i got my revenge turns out that i ripped my valve out of the tube

yeah dabomb looks like your going to have to get some rimlocks. will hold your tube and valve into place. this is advisable for most ppl actually that have torn valves or split tubes. rimlocks are a great little invention and work really well IF YOU NEED THEM. i have been lucky and both my rims have been good so i will keep my fingers crossed.

Cheers, Tony.

Most of what can be done to address the problem has been mentioned so the only thing I will add is whenever the valve is touched, like when checking for tire pressure or releasing/filling air, make sure that the needle comes back all the way out. The proper way to do this is to dab some soapy water on the valve to check for leaks. There is of course a more practical method. Spit on the ground, touch it with your pointer finger and dab :).

To my knowledge, especially for old valves, 3 out of 10 times it is touched, the needle doesnt come all the way back therefore causing a slow leak. Not having a valve cap greatly increases this incidence.

another thing i forgot to mention which seems to work really well and alot of stores do this as well is to angle your valve ever so slightly in the right direction. what this seems to do is make the tube slide. you will find that most valves are torn due to huge acceleration and the rim spins on the tyre dragging the tube with it and ripping the valve off (or tearing it at least) when you angle it this will minimize the chances of tearing your valve as most of the time it only spins slightly and then re-aligns itself. so far 2 places i have talked to said allign the valve to the left as this will stop the tube from spinning in the rim but to me this doesnt make sence as the force behind a tyre grabing on the dirt and the rim spinning is so great its going to rip it to shreads anyway so that doesnt quite equate.

back to the valve in the right direction, if you still have doubts take your tyre and tube off the rim, get a rounded file and round off the edges as this will make the valve slide more freely. some of you ,ay say this is a silly idea but whats better, having to re-allign your valve every once in a while with a deflate and a solid tug or having to take your rim off, take the tyre off, take the tube out, replace the tube, put the tyre back on, check you havnt pinched any of the tube, blow up and recheck for a pinch, deflate, put rim back onto bike, fasten and re-inflate...? i know what one i would rather be doing. 3rd and final method ehich i learnt from a fellow rider is is to give the inside of the rim a sand with some 60 or less grit sand paper. this will make it ultra grippy and it will grab like hell on the tyre, makes it VERY hard for the rim to spin on the tyre.

try these three methods and see how you get on but dont sand too much, just lightly and only the inside 2 edges and not the flat part with the spokes.

Cheers, Tony.

well i got a new high quality tube an just finnished putting it in i cut an put the old tube over the top of the spokes so they dont dig into the tube so ill take it for a thrashing tomorrow an see how see goes
oh an what p.s.i do i put in ??
