So as you may or may not of read, I was about to embark on a run down to and around tassie. After leaving Canberra on friday afternoon and doing a short run to delegate, we got up early sat morning and then headed off down the bownang highway, this place is the best road bike run iv'e ever done. This is the main reason

i'll chuck some vids up later of what the road is like, but if you own a roadie it is definitely worth doing :) . Anyway after a quick stop in Orbost we headed off toward Port Melbourne however just outside a town called Stratford my gear-rack/backpack came loose, then juped off the back of the bike and jammed itself between the rear tire and back of the bike at 120k.... Needless to say a big smokey and wild tank slap proceeded this which ended up with a highside and me getting spat down the road.
Well here is some pics of the bike. I was fine as i was wearing all leathers (for once) just had my jacket undone as it was pretty warm so i scraped the shoulder rather well and i believe i hit my head pretty good as my neck is a bit tender and the helmet definately has some decent scrape marks on it.
In this one you can just see the end of my skid of awesome...

And these give you a better idea of what the poor girl looks like atm

And this really only seems to be the main issue (apart from the "cosmetics" above)

and whats left of the helmet (might be time for a new one...) and my girly graze

After i came off a really kind lad stopped and offered assistance (riding a BMW + sidecar) although not much he could do there he phoned through to a mate in the next town and told me if i got the bike there he would look after it for me and then i could go and do my thing and/or go home and then come back and pick it up later, so i started the ol girl (she still runs ;) ) and pottered about 10k into the Stratford and dropped the bike off at his mates place. Anyway his mate turned up home b4 we left and offered to help me anyway he could which turned into giving me a lift (with the bike) 3hrs back up the road to Cann river... so my wife could pick me up from there. What a nice lad, it is good to know there are still some decent people around, so a big thanks to Hilly, also big thanks to Tina who owns the Cann River pub/motel who let me keep the bike there overnight and even locked it up for me :) . So then the next day (yesterday) i drove back down to Cann river with the trailer and about 40mins out of Canberra (on the way there) i came across some poor lad stuck on the side of the road with his Virago and remembering the previous days Karma i recieved, i figureed i better "pay it back" per say. So i pulled over and it turns out his bike just died while riding down the highway, so I ended up giving him and his bike a ride back to canberra (another 40min trip) so he could get himself sorted (and so i get my Karma points back up) and then set of to Cann river, again.

Geez mate sucks to hear hope she gets sorted out soon, Atleast there's still decent people in this world willing to help a fellow rider... kudos to you

Your very lucky timeeh that you wasnt hurt more then that shoulder which looks like it would be pretty sore and a sore neck also. Does the bike track alright riding it straight now with that damage on the frame timeeh. Its great that you got help also its times like these that you think that people do care about other people apart from themselves and good on you for helping that guy out with the Virago mate top job.

Thanks fellas, yea the bike still tracks fine, even in that condition i still got here up around 100 and i couldn't pick a problem with it, even the bars seem straight, from what i can work out it was the top of the bike that bore the brunt of the crash including the steel frame that runs from either side of the front of the tank to the mirrors, this now looks like a twisted coathanger...but it seems to have saved the rest, who would of thought a "roll bar" over the instrument panel would of saved the bike any?? LOL

I was thinking that hit on the frame might of put it out of wack its amazing how that bar saved it from getting more damaged then what it did timeeh.

That's no good mate, you would feel worse for the bike than yourself. Lucky she didn't highside at 120
