Hi gurus
I need help. have a pitpro 140xr (2008) with yx motor and the old/original IRK setup. Tuned in Mikuni ok (with frustration!) and then went to the 26mm oko recently, to try and fix top end and hard starting. I also have decent mineral oil, ngk plug, done valves to .08mm inlet and .1mm exhaust, uni filter etc. still with the oko I am having hard to start probs. oko running jjh needle middle position, k36 slow, k102 main (I understand this could be a bit large o the main for standard 140?). But once started, I'm happy with mid to top range. I would love advice from the legends about the IRK. have read a fair bit and it seems these are not the go. Please note I really only want this setup for bashing around the farm and I have 3 young daughters to cruise with on the bike. I want the bike to run smooth and don't need a "racing setup". I just checked and adjusted timing to the middle of the adjustment range. should it be advanced or retarded? in short, what do I need to do to get it running better for my needs? any help from those such as thump, dvd or others would be great. I've followed many threads over the years and tried to work it out myself and am now at a dead end... cheers Jmo.

yeah an ork should make it easier to start and it will also get rid of the stalling easy caused by the irk..

if ya dont want to buy an ork then you could try retarding the irk pickup to at least half way retard..

oh and also is it hard to start for everyone or just people tht dont kick it hard enough?

also, by dropping the main jet to the proper size the mid range-top end will be better..
also too large of main jet is ruining your engine slowly

Thanks DVD and sean01. Ok, so it seems the ORK is the go for the yx140. is it worth going to pitpro and saying hey, you stopped fitting these for a reason, send one please (or for cheap)? probably never going to happen... Three questions then: 1. which ORK should I get (and do you think anyone would have second hand one or would I be risking buying other peoples problem)? 2. do I need to think about the other side of the crank in terms of uneven weight? 3. not being overly mechanical, can you explain how to change over (eg, do I need flywheel puller etc)? Many thanks.

ok firstly, no yx140 has a lifan 150 outer rotor fitted as a standard item... most yx140's came with an IRK and they already have the lightened oil slinger.(which will be fine for the ORK)

now what you need is this, it should come with everything needed(cdi, wiring harness) they sometimes come with a coil too but if it doesnt your existing coil will be fine.
RACING OUTROTOR KIT, ADJUST TIMING, SEMI-DIGI CDI, HARNESS - DHZ Mini Moto

you may be able to find one cheaper elsewhere but if you email or ring Ken from DHZ and tell him your a member of miniriders then he'll probly give a small discount..

now your more than likely going to need to make an IRK removal tool yourself which is a piece of cake if you have a drill, welder, some 3mm plate and nuts and bolts..(3x M5x0.8 and one for the middle to screw against the crank)
heres wat mine looks like i made..
