How to get connecting link onto the chain?

Are you sure it's around the wrong way? Did you look at the photo? If it is I'll change it back but I wanna make sure. Here's the way my clip is facing (circled red). Is this the wrong way?

How to get connecting link onto the chain?

Ok, I'll give it a go when I get home. I'm at school right now lol. If it doesn't fix it by tightening it up and straightening it up what should I do? I don't think it's trying to throw the chain off though. The connecting link is hitting the side of the nylon thing bit because the connecting...

How to get connecting link onto the chain?

yeh I think it's the connecting link because that's wider than the other links and it doesn't do get sort of stuck every time. Do you think I would be able to saw a little bit of the nylon thing so the chain can go through without constantly hitting it?

How to get connecting link onto the chain?

The cog I mean is circled in green. With the nylon thing I have circled in red (now done up obviously), when the connecting link goes through it gets caught a bit so the bike jolts a bit. Do I just loosen it so the chain goes through smoothly? Edit: Don't worry about that cog now. I know where...

How to get connecting link onto the chain?

Finally I got it on. Thanks guys. But I got another question now because I don't want to break this one. How do I adjust the chain? I take it would be something to do with that little cog. Here's a photo of how mine looks. Is it fine? Also the little cog is a little wobbly, is that fine...

How to get connecting link onto the chain?

How to get connecting link onto the chain?

I still can't get it on :( Here is the bit that I can't get on. I tried with a hammer and screw driver but still couldn't do it.

How to get connecting link onto the chain?

Hey guys, I've having trouble getting my connecting link onto the chain. I managed to get the connecting link apart but I can't get it on the chain. What is the best way to get it on. Is there some sort of trick? Cheers.

    Putting new chain on

    Thanks guys.

    Putting new chain on

I know to get the actual chain on around the cogs obviously, but how do I undo the connecting link and connect it again so I can connect the chain together? It says it's a rivet type. Thanks.

    Chain too big

Where can I get a chainbreaker?

What is the flange and how do you grind it out?

    Chain too big

Chain too LONG Well I got a new chain today. I asked for a 428 pitch and brought my old one and they gave me one. I got home and went to start putting it on and saw that it was too big. I thought a 428 pitch was a small chain for Pit bikes, or are there 428 pitch chains of any length? Am...

    ANOTHER problem, bike won't start!

Ok thanks. I'll also bring the old chain in too in case.

    ANOTHER problem, bike won't start!

Yep will do. If it is a 428, they'll know what I mean if I ask for a 428 pitch chain? I don't have to ask for anything else right?

    ANOTHER problem, bike won't start!

I still have the chain but I'll just get a new one instead of getting links. I'll also make sure that it's a 428. If it is, is that all I'll have to ask for? Just a 428 pitch chain, nothing else?
  18. Dozza

    ANOTHER problem, bike won't start!

So just a 428 pitch chain is all I have to ask for?

    ANOTHER problem, bike won't start!

So what sort of chain do I ask for exactly when I go to buy a new one? I noticed it's a "KMC chain 428 pitch chain". Could I just ask for a 428 pitch chain?

    ANOTHER problem, bike won't start!

Yeah, I've done that too but this time I've gotta get the whole chain on. Not just get it onto the wheel.
