Nice little toy, mate had one years ago, monster torque for a 400. And as was stated before the growl of the V4 is awesome, I had a VFR 800 for a while and i reckon the sound was the best part :) Carefull with those rearsets if you got long legs, they can make riding really uncomfortable...

May also be a stuffed stator, mine was doing this recently, and chased everything else then an hr or 2 before the first race, put in a new stator and it fixed it. Try the above first though.

Just a thought, could you run it on the side of the bike? wont clutter up the front then, and will still provide some cooling? Those engines get warm, especially at high RPM for long stretches i.e road travel.
