Dosent matter about spacer ,It does stop against air leaks but due to the shorter manifold when not using one you will get a better response. a thin gasket would be better.

My Bros cdi carked it He got a new genuine thumpster one .. many thumpsters have the cdi up under the seat , this is bad water got into his and screwed it . A tell tale sign of cdi falure is when timing is off. will back fire and idle iradicaly, and often takes a while to kick over.
