    valve adjustment

The anti-kick-back mechanism is in my experience worth more trouble than good. Without it, I find I can always find TDC on starting and no more kick-back issues. If you don't feel like checking some of the things I already mentioned and reporting back, then I don't think anyone can have a...

Where Can You Get Lifan Stroker Cranks

I guess you've already gone to (or aiming for) maximum practical bore size for the head gasket, and found yourself a good hi-comp piston. Since by today's standards, isn't a stock Lifan 150 already a stroker? I know it's only a 2 valve engine so it wont breath properly if too over square...

    valve adjustment

My Lifan 140 never made tapping/click sounds, and neither does my Lifan 150. That was click free in stock form and after some new head parts went in. I set clearances to 003 inlet and 004 exhaust. Actually those are the largest feeler gauges which just did fit, so my clearance is a little wider...

    fastace rear shock

No. Well just partly, that is only on the very beginning of the spring compress. Spring preload (the nut adjustment) does not change the spring rate.

    fastace rear shock

Just do as per http://www.miniriders.com.au/forum/tech-talk/19938-fastace-rear-shock.html#post194064 and see if a 550 can fit his crap shock. It'll still be HEAPS better, and the cost is SFA. Later on he might want a better shock, and good chance the 550 spring will fit on a newer shock when...

rear shock specs for pit pro bigfoot

Just try a 280 then. Before removing the old shock, measure the rear height of the bike with you sitting on it. Put a new shock in then reset the rear height via the spring preload. If the bike does not turn into corners easily, then the rear is still too low (ie. forks are choppered out). If...

rear shock specs for pit pro bigfoot

Assuming you already have such a bike, just put your bike up on a stand with the rear wheel hanging. Then measure the bolt centre to centre length of your old shock. That's it. You're ready to go shopping. It'll have 10mm mount bolts.

    IRK? What do you think?

To add to Cactus' comments, the alum slingers are about 700g lighter. So the engine spins up heaps quicker and you get good acceleration gains. Snitchy posted a video on how to swap it. Good video. Just be careful if you need to use lots of force on the slinger nut. On my 140 I chose to put...

    fastace rear shock

Hmm that sux. I took a guess that would not be a problem for him. Not even just 1mm of metal?

    fastace rear shock

Wow, what a nuggety looking spring. Might as well not have any suspension. That one you found on DHZ is a spring+shock for $85. Notice you can get the spring for just $28. But the questions are: 1) If the complete $85 shock+spring will fit your bros bike - does the bike have 8mm or 10mm...

    Rear shock

Wash it and monitor it. Every time you use it, and every week that passes, you're probably going to have less chance of getting is replaced under warranty. Just the slowest leak and it'll rapidly turn to crap, and then you bike's rear end will be just like a pogo stick.

    fastace rear shock

Yeah A-frame vs straight is a huge leverage diff on the spring. See if his spring has a number written on it somewhere. Prob 1200 or 1000. It so then get a 550 for it, or even an 800 will be heaps better for him. The only thing you need check, is the internal diam of the new spring. So...

    Rear shock

Can't say I noticed that when mine was new. Certainly does not happen now. Hopefully you just have surplus oil on the outside. Inspect the chrome on the shaft for any defects or scratches. If you wash it after each ride, and it keeps happening, then get it replaced. If it leaks oil, then I...

    fastace rear shock

No matter how **** his shock is, your confusing the spring for the shock. Also "slow" means too much shock dampening. But that's beside the point, since his little bro sits on the bike and the spring does not compress. What to read about it. Go to this website: Home - Teknik Motorsport...

    fastace rear shock

You're assuming his little bro has an A-Frame swing arm like you. I am assuming he has a straight swing arm - and he needs something soft for it. Totally different spring travel ratio for the different type of swing arms.

    fastace rear shock

The shock is not the problem. You said it hardly does down when he sits on it. That means you just need a softer rear spring. They are cheap at about $30 each. Get one on ebay or where ever. Your little bros bike might have a 1200 lbs/in rear spring, or else a 1000. Take it out and check it...

    My long, But Succesful Weekend!

Good stuff Andrew. I like your dad. He sounds persistent with problems, and he also seems to know how important a good running dirt bike is for a young boy.

    carby issues

Ah changed your mind on the valve clearance situation :) Certainly worth getting them right. It's not too hard to do yourself. On the inlet for example, if the 003 fits, but the 004 does not, then that's good enough. Sometimes its a bit fiddly to get the feeler gauge in there. Be really...

    carby issues

Maybe electrical and created by random vibrations. eg. Rust or loose fastener preventing proper earthing of the coil mount or the earth wire. Or maybe some loose wire connectors or spark plug cap. Maybe a dud coil/plug lead. Or just a dud spark plug. Slim chance it could also be a dud coil or...
