what? i ddnt understand that and ok i was immature before and im sorry. but ide reely like help with this because i want this bike to be at its best. and i dont think it looks right.

If you plan on riding it sitting that far back you might want to get a few rear guards and maybe install a wheelie bar of some description. Presuming this is your first *cough* Big bike!? looks pretty low in the rear, maybe needs some suspension work or at minimum, adjusted to your weight/liking.. Which you wont really be able to work out until you have at least ridden it a few laps. to soft, to hards, to much compression, not enough.. yada yada yada..

yeah and idc you can say it is my first big bike cuz it is.. but like the suspension is new because the bike has only 4 hours on it. Its no where near that low for my friend who used to ride it and he said its set pretty stiff and said to leave it so i dont strip the shock tightener or whatever. also i didnt know i was sitting that far back. how should i sit on it?

there is a pic of my friend who sold it to me before he got his big bike. and he said ohh yeah bro the bike is perfect for you, when i was buying it. did he lie or sort of lie?

im not trying to sit back far im taller than he is. and he said weight didnt matter plus im not that much farther back. i also didnt plop down on it and neither did he. does it reely make tht much of a differance sitting 2 inches farther up?

if weight didnt matter why would companys bother bringing out different rated springs :/

have a read:

Dirt Bike Suspension - How To Set It Up

then give yourself PLENTY of time and read this...
Motorcycle Suspension Setup
Then put it into practice and post your results...

as for the two inches... 2 inches on the shock, could be the difference between bottoming out and snapping a shock, breaking an eyelet, busting a frame, and /or landing comfortably with no damage..

yea setup the rear suspension by the book your looking at a total drop of about 100mm when bike is on the jack with rear wheel unweighted to fully weighted with rider and gear, either that or hit the gym and lose some of that arse

i see i thought two inches only mattered if you were fat. and im not but hes set the bike to his weight (112 pounds) and im almost 200 pounds. also if i post a video of the bike running could you tell me if it sounds ok? im not a bike expert im just concerned because after going to UTI for automotive training and learning how to tune/modify/maintain bmw engines....im thinking that this just doesnt sound right....you know? you may need quicktime because the format is mp4.....also miro video player works too

Does it sound different to the BMW engines does it. hmmmm maybe there is so tuning to do.

show us what the spark plug looks like.

cant believe the dribble im reading in here..

and why wouldn't the bike be running good, you claim it only has 4 hrs on it..

and buy a heavier spring for the rear shock before you blow it out...

might need to replace the powerband. If it doesnt feel responsive it is usually the powerband.

ya i sprayed the plug with break cleaner and shot some into the carb and its fine now. maybe sitting for a long time didnt do it any good.

and sean01, was that a fat joke?

He was trying to help you.

You clearly need to do 1 of 3 things:

  • Play around with spring settings (clickers etc if any, spring tension)
  • Get the rear shock rebuilt
  • Buy a new shock

You also need to learn the correct riding position as your miles to far over the back wheel.

So they are your options now get it sorted and get out riding!! Doesn't need to be a 20 page thread on something so simple. Also use the search on the site and research all this for future reference.

Thread closed.

cheers Motorman...

and yeah i was pointing out that your rear shock spring is too light for you.. cr80/85's are sold to accept lightweight riders of around 50kg's (110pounds) or even lighter.. 200 pound would be killing it
