Hi,
Im a pomme in distress! help me...
I have an Xsport CR3 125cc, i just brought it second hand and its grinding in
3rd gear.
I stripped the clutch side of the engine last night and everything seems ok there and now i want to split the engine and have a look at the gearbox side, to do this ive got to take the head off, and im not too sure about the timing chain and what the process is to remove and refit that so if anyone could help me that would be mint!
Thanks
Simon

Yes plenty of oil in it mate, out of interest what oil do most people use, fully or semi synthetic?
Si

Yeah Simon sounds like your going to find teeth missing off that gear, so it's gotta come out. Should be able to find the parts you'll need easily in the UK.
To remove the head just release the cam chain adjuster bolt (it is the 'other' big bolt under the motor, it normally enters the case at an angle just beneath the flywheel cover) and don't lose the spring behind it. You can then remove and replace the cam sprocket and chain easily.

Thanks mate, ill have a go at that tonite, would anyone recommend getting stronger gears if this is a common problem? or jus replacing with standard parts?

unsure of stronger gears availability unless you get them commissioned yourself.... perhaps just change over with standard and try not to flat change too much...
