Hey mate make sure you have a good line selected and start small and work ur way up dnt be embaressed if lil kids are jumpin ova da top of ya theyve probly bin ridin since they where 1 mate and just think no fear
my morral is
NO FEAR
GO HARD OR GO HOME

jumping is as easy as getting out of bed. just keep your head clear but dont ever not think about the jump otherwise u might fall off.. keep yourself focused but dont think about crashing. just keep this repeating in your head "WEEEEEEE" :) should be fine but just keep ya balance hit the lip at the right speed and let your balance do the landing. also dont look at a spot on the downy and say i wanna hit there cuase rarely you will even get close to were you wish to land and if your focused on a spot its amazinly easyier to crash.

Best of luck

Just have fun Best way to put it.

ALSO.. if you fall off a horse you get back on it. so instead of taking our advise go for it and Do what you feel comftable with.

Edit: and you DDR should not give advise mr over shot a jump by like 10 metres... haha nice landing though dont see ya having kids after that crash :p

lol some of the guys posting advice here have never jumped properly :\

Suspension and preperation is key , go in with smooth throttle you dont want you bike to be reving out. Sit before the takeoff , never stand before the takeoff you will rocket out then as you start on the face of the jump begin to crouch and compress your suspension so it pops you from the takeoff. try to use a little clutch work in the air and give it a rev just before hitting the downy. If your bike nose dive's give it a few revs and adjust your weight accordingly so that it pulls up. If you rocket get forward and try and root the bars , you will look like a dick head but it beats a broken jaw. If you over shoot the landing just prapare your self , rise from the pegs and grip them bars and try to land on the rear wheel and give it a powerrev just before you land. If you are going to case the landing adjust your weight back and try to land evenly and rev it up once you case to keep momentum.

But mainly set up your suspension the best you can , you want a plush initial stroke then a firm to hard stroke once pushed right down. Make sure your footpeg mount can cope too and don't go being a crusty demon on your first few tries other wise you will eat ****. If you want to get all tech cut some grab holes into your side panels where it joins the fender or remove them. Firm up your shock too. Hope that helps mate , good luck and remember if its a dirt takeoff it changes everytime you hit it thats why pussy's ride steel ramps cause everytime its the same haha kiddin steel is the way too go!

haha man yeh good stuff but your suppost to land not bloody fly to china :)

YouTube - BJ and Daniel.Moto Riding

we have since made the jump a bit bigger. and if i man up and do it ill post some pics,, and footage, its still not big. ahah its in the front yard of my gfs house, their whole property is a moto track, pretty funny, we get truck loads of dirt delivered there and her mum n dad come home n are like, what the F__ck? ahahah. pretty funny, they dont mind but

I'm still learning to jump but I have definitely improved. I ride a KX125 and all I can say is just practice. Each time I do a jump I get a little more confident and hit it at a little more speed.

Also, don't be afraid of falling. 90% of my falls I haven't even bee scratched, the other 10% I've got a small scar and a small bruise. :D

Don't be affraid of falling??? Tell that to the guy with the broken neck ...

Ok, maybe I should have been a little clearer. I actually meant on smaller size jumps, e.g the sort of jumps I and other beginners learn on. I didn't mean go and hit a massive ramp straight away and don't worry about falling.

i kno how you jump and dont fall off you hold on for dear life lol nah...... u just need to prepare yourself for jump and start of small and build your way up with the same speed as your confidence

yeah its a simple answer. if you dont wanna hurt yourself. Start off small.. stay central over the bike, get a feel of what the bikes like in the air, and gradually build your confidence with the bike and get further and further

be loose'e goose'e and get a feel 4 ya moto den try going over very small jumps sooner than later yoO will be more confident and start doing big jumps thers nothing to it realli just stay straing and make sure yOo are in the right gear for the right jump size

sitting right up as close to the fuel tank as possible when ya hit the jump, like so far up your nuts are restin' on it, and standing up just after take-off makes balancing a whole lot easier as opposed to hitting the jump standing up.

i tackled a jump the otherday on a bmx track it looked like a tabletop but it was a straight hump it was about 1.7 metres high and i landed on the flat.god it was scary first proper jump ive gone over.
