Hey guys.

i just bought a 150cc 2011 pit bike Bought it off a guy that only used it for 4 months then it sat in his shed for the rest of the year so its pretty much brand new. Could not for the life me me get it started ,my boyfriend changed the oil. new spark plug. new air filter. cleaned the carby 3 times. set the valves, timing you name it. finally it has started. blew a bit of smoke but is all good.

my question is after iv ridden it for about 10-15 minutes if i go to start it up again it wont kick over. i check the spark plug and its black as anything. i sand it and screw it back in and it starts.

its a new spark plug so whats going on. could it have something to do with the piston rings? or running rich? carby? oil leak?.

thanks

i'd say a set of ring will be in order

might as well do piston as well while ya there

it might be running to rich but it would still start just run really bad

blowing smoke give you a good indication of the problem

yeh its not blowing smoke anymore, went for a ride yesterday. its just when i go to start it up after a ride i have to clean the spark plug to get it to kick over. i might take it in to see if anythings up with the pistons. better to get it checked out now rather than later if it is the pistons?

is it blowing black smoke or blue smoke ?

black is too rich a carbi jetting.. most common china problem ...

i think your just fouling plugs due to carbi problems.. if its a wet oily plug piston/rings needed but i doubt the motors that old. unless to was so rich the guy washed the cylinder and killed the rings in the motor

well the guy i bought it off he got the bike brand new this time last year so definitly not old. he rode it for 4 months then it sat in his shed.

its not a black smoke. its more blue and sometimes when i start it theres a bit of air/smoke coming out of the air filter too. this is after i ride it for a bit, then turn it off then go to start it up again. The motor sounds fine when riding aswell.

the spark plug isnt oily just really black. and i have to clean it everytime.

blue smoke.. is rings.. you'll find you'll be able to keep riding it around like it is for a fair while depending on how bad the smoke is and loss of power etc.. But you'll find the carbi needs to be jetted correctly as i said before common issue is jetting on china bikes.

wet oily plug is normally extremely worn out internals.
