Hi, Hoping some knowledgable person on here might be able to help. I replaced the head gasket on my Zongshen 250 air cooled single and managed to drop the timing in the process.

Like I have it back together with no bad noises when cranking by hand so put th eplug back in, fuel on but she no start. Can anyone give me some basic timing tips as I must have something out.

Oh yes there is fuel and spark at the plug.

Yes I know it is Chinese and as soon as it is running it is being sold. It has been fun but it is time for something better.

Thanks in advance.

check the flywheel for anymarks, there should be a T on it, and then the case for an arrow or pinter...thats tdc when they line up.

check the cam sprocket for marks, and same deal, the case/head should have a mark as well... line all marks up...

unless its one of the junkers with the pushrods? that case...idk:eek:

If its a push rod the timing wont have changed when you took the head off because the little cam type thing which pushes the rods is in the bottom end. But like Headsmess said there should be marks on the cam gear and on the flywheel if its an OHC engine

Thanks fellas, yeah the cam sproket has a mark but can't see a thing on th eflywheel eh.

Take the plug out and poke a screwdriver dow there and then rotate the flywheel and see when the piston is at the top then you will have TDC on the flywheel,

Yep went through that process but at tDC where do I want my cam sproket to be? I was guessing all valves closed but...

I appreciate the help fellas eh.
