Hello everyone
This is my first post and i must say ur forum is great source of info for begginers like me. Im just getting back into dirtbikes and have brought a orion 125cc pitbike dirt cheap for a thrasher (first ever four stroker).

My orion has a key igniton and electric start that dont work at all, although the bike kicks over and runs fine. I wanna plug a battery in and test out the starter etc but i cant seem to find a place to put the battery? I cant even find The plugs for the battet :/ This may b the noobiest question ever but do all electric start bikes need a battery? I cant seem to find a bracket/mount anywhere for the battery on my frame.

The stickers indicate the bike is a orion pro series probly a fairly older model, its got a ducar 125 semi auto in it. Im thinking its possible this frame wasnt designd for electric start?

Heres some pics for reference, mind the mud haha its been pouring down with rain all week here.

Thanxs
Josh

i think that model had a battery box in front of the carby attached to under the frame, is there 2 threaded holes just behind the forks on the frame, is that a solenoid (gold cylinder with 2 bolts on top of it)at the front of the carby(may have wires attached), you can test your starter by hooking up jumper leads to a battery and putting one on the engine(earth) and putting the positive directly on the positive terminal on the top of the starter motor.

actually i see the solenoid with the black rubber cover on it just behind the fuel tank, remove the cover and does it have wires coming off it, if it does one should go to the starter and one should have a red wire that goes to the battery(should be a fuse wire with it?)

Thankyou for the fast replies. Yes the solonoid does have the wires attached and i can see the threaded holes behind the forks on the frame. Thanks for the last pic rotn50 im sure its a similar frame as mine.

cool, so you have a wire that runs to the starter and the other (off the solenoid is your pos battery wire, is there a black earth wire(thicker than normal) running off a bolt on your engine, if so that the earth wire for the battery

Hooked up the starter to a 12v battery today and she wound over with no issues. Planning on fabing up some sort of bracket or sheet metal box for the battery to sit in and offer some protection. The key ignition isnt even connected so il be pulling that out. Thanxs for all ur help.

Glad to hear you got it sorted mate, let us know if you need any more help.
