pretty sure there is a reservoir you fill with oil, just fill the tank with fuel and it mix's itself while riding.....but the setup in the pics looks weird so im not to sure.

Yeah it's a bit confusing. Didn't think injection was around in those days. Looks like there is a hose from that white container to the carb now that I look at it.

Only 1 way to find out.

Automated oil mix was definitely around in those days, the only problem with it was it was sh!t :p

I'd recommend tracing the line from the oil tank to check if it actually connects to an oil pump and then runs into the carb (or directly into the carb (unlikely)). If it doesn't, sweet, pre-mix your fuel. If it does, disconnect it and pre-mix your fuel. You can pull the tank and pump off completely.

I personally used to run a '76 TY175 at 100:1 oil/fuel mix using the best synthetic oil I could get my hands on ($18/l!). I'd recommend paying for a decent fully synthetic 2 stroke oil and mixing at around 60:1 (you might find you can go to 80:1, but don't do this unless you have a bit of mechanical knowledge and can ensure it's enough oil). You'll end up with less carbon build up in the head as while your little brother is learning he's not likely to rev it clean like it'll need if you run it on mower oil at a more concentrated ratio.

Get a filter on it ASAP and tune it up, it should be a great little bike!

Good luck :)

its not injection, its more drip feed, or works on vacuum or something, my dad had an old KE100 that he done up and sold, that was the same.

And that kick starter looks to be overkill for that bike, i reckon it would get in the way or be a real pain in the ass while riding.
