Hi guys!
I am after a bit of advice.
My son has a Braaap Maestro (Braaap - Welcome) and it has broken the kickstart gear twice now, the last time it was the third start since being repaired by Braaap here in Launceston.
They have told him that he is not kicking it hard enough, then that he was kicking it too hard and not lifting his foot.
At $200 to $250 for a repairs each time it makes expensive fun.
They say that there is no warranty and there is nothing wrong with the bike.
Is this a common feature of these bikes?

Some motors are a bit weaker than others in the kick start department but if kicked over properly each time you shouldnt have a problem with any motor. I think there is a tutorial on here that shows the correct way to start a bike.

Braaap a normally pretty good with stuff like. Sprt of suprising they don't seem to be being very helpful. They always make a really big deal with all there bikes you have to get to TDC, don't just kick the hell out of it... there is lots of videos for finding the tdc! Probably learn to kit it better and it will solve the issue.. i have an '07 braaap and the motor has never had a issue... no repairs just normal things like rings replaced. there really good bikes... so i doubt its weak parts.

Thanks guys for the great advice. the kick start video will hopefully fix the problem. Also the vid on replacing the gear is great, we will tackle ourselves if it happens again. The only problem is that both times we were told that the crankcase was also broken, hence the hefty bill.
Not sure what the motor is, will have a look when we he gets the bike back.
Thanks again!

yea the 150's have a tendency to crack the crankcase under a heavy kickback

what de-comp cam? is there a working version or they all like the 140 one?
