Hey all,

I got this carb today, it's on the new CRF motor I got... My problem is that I think it should have a little white spacer under the pin clip??? Can anyone confirm this ??

First pix shows the carb it is !!! Second shows the slide/pin parts I think there suppose to be a spacer between the slide and the pin clip !!

I also would like to know if the carb is to big for a TB 88cc Race head motor as I think the kit come with a 20mm carb.. or is it ok as
this carb is only large on the inlet and outlet but much smaller in the center as it has the ovel shape through the center ??

that carby is all in order exact same as mine, your not missing anything.
i ran one of these on my bros xr80 and it ran but when you gave it wide open throttle (WOT) quickly it would bog, so it will run but it may bog.

the bogging was probably due to poor jetting, we had a few troubles on one of our race engines and it turned out to be jetting.

looks right to me???

but get a new carb thats just a china copy, ive got a TAKEGAWA GENUINE KEIHN PC18 carb that i could sell ya????,dunno if itd be to small for that engine but maybe you should buy the carby that normal comes with that engine...

kk thanks guys...

Yeah, I was thinking about getting that carby kit..

also, read the carby guide last night !! very helpful...

yeh thats fine i pulled my slide/pin out the other day 2 change throttle cable n it didnt have any spacers!!

I checked two new "25" 22 mm Mikunis I've got and they both have a white plastic washer under the needle clip which is in the second groove from the bottom ... The plastic washer sits in a recess machined into the slide ...

And XR75/80 Honda engines do hesitate if the slide is wicked open to full throttle from idle ... no matter how perfectly they're tuned ... Even highly modified engines ... but it doesn't happen once the rider gets used to how the engine responds ...

A 22 mm Keihin makes the best all around power ... but an XR80 20 mm Keihin carb would also work great on an 88 cc kitted horizontal ...

Totty in this PM tread explains spot on why it happens ... I've said exactly the same thing in many posts ...

kk kool.... I thought they had one !!! I made one out of plastic ... The reason I thought it had one was because even once the E shaped retaining spring was in the neadle had a lot of up and down play !! The plastic spacer I made has taken up this play !!

Thanks again all...

Yes without it the needle will move around under vibrations and cause inconsistent running ... and the engine probably won't return to idle as quick as it should after being revved ...

You've (as always) hit the nail on the head !!!

After a rev the motor would not return to idle cleanly...

It's perfect now with the made up spacer...

I wonder how many other people have lost the plastic washer and think the slide is sticking ... The spring in those carbs is so strong that it would be very unlikely to happen ...
