carb slide

i am trying to help a friend with his bike, on the carb slide, there is a slot for the cable on one side, and a wider slot on the other side that goes up half way or so on the slide and then angles out, does this side of slide with wide slot go over idle screw? also on the inside of the carb body ( where the slide goes in ) theres a protrusion about the size of a bb midway in the carb body( slide cavity ) on the opposite side of idle screw, i thought it may be there to align slide,but am wondering if this is true or not, as the slide will only go down this part of the cavity on the wide slot side of slide ,but the slide stops, and appears that it needs to go down further but cannot, and there is cable slack that leads me to believe this, when fired up it revs way to high,verifying something is wrong with how i am trying to orientate slide in slide bore on carb body, ok so...what side does the wider slot on slide positioned with ? the idle screw side? or the protrusion on inside of carb body ( slide cavity ) is that bb size protrusion on the inside of the carb body ( slide cavity )supposed to even be there to begin with? its on one of those chinese bikes with the air screw vertical between head and carb not sure of model,etc.

hi, welcome to the forums,

the idle screw lines up with wide tapered slot
the cable slot lines up with the pin in the slide's bore

thanks, after pushing slide down gently it started to finally slide down bore, for some reason the pin in the slide bore would not allow the slide to continue after a certain point, but after i pushed on it some it did manage to get past pin and slide down bore via cable slot , i just didnt wanna force things to much, moving slide up and down a few times freed up stiffness in bore,now slide moves freely
