Hi I have a thumpster, new coil, cdi, plug, throttle assembly and cable, new 10/40 oil. I am having trouble tuning carb. It has 2 adjustment screws. 1 is a solid needle which seats into a spring(internal) and 2nd Just above is a screw with a spring(external and visible). I believe 1 is for fuel flow and 2 is air. I am having trouble when I open the throttle through the gears and it doesn't rev out. Fine in neutral and it revs fully. If I just open throttle slightly through gears it goes fine but I cant get full throttle through the gears. I have cleaned out carby, jets are clean and fuel is getting through no problem. I have cleaned tank also. No problems for starting first time every time. There is adjustment on throttle cable. I am getting fuel through, a good spark. Could there be any other mechanical reasons why it wont rev out through the gears. Any ideas would be great to help. Thanks for your time Ian.

hmmm, you've left out a couple of the most important specs..
carb type and size?
what size jets is it running (pilot jet, main jet and slide needle size)
engine size?

and is this a new carb your fitting or a problem your fixing?

Thanks for the reply. I have it all sorted out. I now know why I was having probs. I noticed the new plug I put was getting sooted up real quick. Silly old me realized the choke position and its the right way to run the bike with the lever down and not up. A win for the good guys. Thanks Ian.
