umm not really true... but theres no real answer here i dont think
if you put too small of sprocket on yr wheel it wont have as much punch which is changing the engines power output
and if you put too big of sprocket on it will steal a lot/ most of its torque but rev its tits off
so basically it changes the engines whole power curve
Sorry but im with Krazed on this one, thats delivery your talking about.
The power doesnt change, the sprockets just move it around in the rev range.
Thats why you go big on the rear for tight tracks like supercross to give you that instant punch out of corners and over jumps.
Then for motcross and trails you use a smaller rear and get less punch but more top speed and a more useable spread of the power delivery (torque).
