Sort of new to this so i need a bit of help. I bought a crf50 a few months back with a few trick parts on it and it sure looked better than it ran. Anyway long story short it had a race cam in it and was really boggy down low so i swapped it with a stock cam and everything runs fine except there is now a ticking sound coming from the top end. All valve clearances were checked so i really have no idea what the problem is. Any info would be great. I live in western sydney so if anyone wants to look at the bike you can. Cheers

is the timing spot on, was it ticking before with the race cam? were the valves adjusted with the cam 180 degrees out?

The timing is pretty much right, the tdc on the sprocket is just out. The O is just above the mark. It never made a ticking sound with the race cam. Yeah the valves were adjusted with both marks lined up with the tdc.

Make sure your two cam sprocket bolts are done up tight. Make sure the cam chain is not loose. did you put everything back together right? I'd put the race cam back in and see if it stops again.

Just checked the bolts and chain and they are both fine. I'll try the race cam and see how it goes. Thanks for the replies.
