Well, I gotta be the dumbest bloke around, despite seeing people warning others on these forums about detonators, alla yamoto, i went and bought my boy one cos it looked cool. Futures buyers beware i would run as fast as your little legs can carry you in the other direction, its not even fit for a boat anchor in my opinion. I am writing this only 35minutes after actually assembling the thing and i am that raged that i needed to sign up and warn people. basically the fuel tank has no stop cock ( unbelievable in this day and age but true) this might not seem like a big problem but it is when the fuel actually pours out of the so called Mikuni? I doubt if its a mikuni, i've raced and ridden bikes for 32years and never seen this. What a fire hazard. 4 kicks and the kick starter gear started stripping! and this is a Lifan engine, I thought they were ok ( according to the forums). front shocks actually are not chromed where they slide into the top section, it looks painted, I wonder how long the seal will last untill they too start gushing oil to match the already petrol soaked garage floor.. Stay tuned because i am going to have these peole jumping to fix this nonsense. You will be updated on what happens.

bumer im sorry i havt 125 bike but what a rip of in nsw there worth 1300 dollers thank god i was gonna buy one

detonator aren't they DUCAR engines? Sorry i stand corrected Yamoto site says it is a Lifan but it is differant to all the Lifans i have seen, looks more like a Loncin or Ducar.

buying a bike coz 'it looks cool' would have to be the worst decision, your spose to check the bike out b4 purchase.
32years racing bikes and you buy one based on looks, thats weird.

I have seen sellers advertising Lifan engine, but the pics show a motor without badges. Older 120 Lifan stock might have come without the case badges..I dunno. But Tony, if you check the engine serial no we could tell you for sure. If it is a Lifan it will most probably be 1P52FMI.
You might be able to sort out a lot of the problems and sure the bike up, but not without a little more expense. There are better entry level bikes out there like BSE, but they're not totally free from bugs. If you want a solid, reliable fun entry level pitbike you might want to consider around $1500 as a price bracket, either bought outright or built up from a $1000 initial purchase.
I hope for your sons sake Tony that you get it sorted.

BTW...If you want to rag a poor quality bike on the forum, that's cool...just be careful not to rag sellers publicly (if you can help it) guys. :)

No its not wierd because my boy is 10 years old and he's never ridden, so I thought that he would not be stressing anything on the Chinese contraption, but I have looked at other so called good chinese bikes and this one seems to have better suspension and appears to offer more for the money. its only when you get it home that it gushes fuel and strips starter gears. I would not have bought it if I new... obviously, but its too late as my lil bloke is over the moon and thrilled to bits, I don't want to blow his bubble and return it, so they had better fix it. I am just so amazed that someone is actually allowed to sell something like this without Oc safety or some other department crashing down on them. One day someone is gonna eat dirt, get trapped under the bike and burn, then watch the fireworks, cos they better have big I mean big bank accounts.

Looking at your old posts no-fear, you used to be a lot more constructive. Do us all a favour and return to that mode......I find that constantly derisive people are usually trying to mask some inadequacy.

So it just has a hose-tail screwed into the tank?

4 kicks and the kick starter gear started stripping!
The kickstart goes through the clutch on most these bikes so if you hold the clutch in and kick, it just slips the clutch.... it's not just that is it?

Thanks max99, I checked, and the engine number is located behind the gear selector shaft on the left side of the gearbox, and is DJ154FMI and below that is another number *060680421*

I was waiting to hear you say the serial started with a D....

it doesn't stand for Detonator.

I doubt very much if that is a Lifan. Does it have case badges? The 54 means it is a square 54 bore 54 stroke 124cc engine, but the 54 x 54 Lifan has the serial 1P54FMI. I think it might be false advertising, and it's a Ducar. Can anyone with a 125cc Ducar confirm the serial Tony quoted?

Yep... My Ducar is DJ154FMI...

also... the Detonatorss on eBay have Ducars...

so it looks i dont stand corrected Ducar after all, someones(Yamoto) got some explaining to do

just tryin to say u should not choose a bike based on looks, would u buy a car if it was full of rust???
same goes for a bike, do u buy a bike to always be reparing it or riding it?

Thanks a million hombres, these forums work wonders, well its really disapointing that aperson is constantly getting ripped . You have all seen the Yamoto website I've seen it and today the slick sales guy confirmed twice today that it was a Lifan, ( I asked him twice) now what do i do, Do I stuff my kid around or do these people settle in some other way with me, whats your opinions. I wonder how many of the many many detonator buyers will be reading this and running to check their serial number, mmmm its gonna get interesting. Man, I am ropable at the moment .

No fear, why don't you take a break buddy and go watch some kiddies tv, let the guys sort this one out

pretty lame comment buddy...
This forum is for discussion, im just saying my 'OPINION' only, mayb it was the way u said it 'u bought it based on looks'.

I apologise No fear, I am just friggin mad and your comments seemed to rile me even more, but you are correct its a stupid comment "buying on looks" but to a 10 year old, looks mean a lot and as i said, I figured even a chinese wonder would live up to his beginner quiet riding style.

I reckon your best basis for a return is the false advertising of the reputable Lifan engine. Otherwise they might just want to fix it, and you are really better off with a better built bike altogether. Did it come with warranty? If so, what conditions?

90 days engine parts only and nothing on the rest!! I should have run when he said that but I had travelled 1 hour and My lil bloke has been waiting a long time. I also weighed up some of the e bay warranties which were 30 days and I thought this was better. I might be harping a bit on the boy but he's been through some tough times and he needs a lift in life, so here I sit with another bum purchase. I swear I must just attract them.
