Hey havent been on for awhile due to busy life. but i sold my old bike and have a free elstar rs125. Problem is the old 125cc engine didnt last long with me i broke second gear and the motor. and was terribly slow.. So im after a replacement i was looking at a 140cc + or a gpx 125cc but found out I'd have to modify my frame and make a clutch bracket because the frame is in the way and the clutch lever on the engine needs to be bent up due to hitting the frame.... I found out that elstar does a lifan 140cc oiled cooled engine already modified the clutch lever so it fits in my bike..and gasman reckons he has a yx140 engine to fit without modifying it. Does anyone know if the yx140 will fit in without modifying it? I have dhz saying none will fit without modifying it and then elstar saying there engine has been modified and gasman saying the yx140 will fit with no mods...

Also which engine would be better a lifan or a yx?

yx for power for sure just make sure you locktite your primary gear nut and clutch nut and your set to go
my lifan 150 did last a long time tho.. not the best power (had grunt from bottom end but top end was boring)

Yeah i heard alot better results with the yx just dont know who to believe about if it will fit in the square tube frame.... im not really to keen on making a bracket and bending the clutch lever

im not sure about what the problem is with your frame could you post a pic?

i dont have a pic at the moment of my bike but supposedly the origanal engine has the clutch near thefront where the head is where as the 140cc+ and the gpx 125cc has the clutch point on the top of the case dhz is saying that the clutch handle on the engine hits the frame and needs to be bent out of the way and a bracket needs to be made to hold the cable on the frame then connect to the engine

i see what your saying now.. the yx 150 does have the clutch actuator on top of the clutch same with the lifan also..

not sure what you can replace it with either... unless you wanted to go back to a crappy lifan 125
i would probably just make a adapter

Elstar reckons they modify there 140 to fit the frame so I'll go buy that
