Ha wow, my spark doesnt look very powerful at all. Well I tried it on a bottle this arvo and Its so close to starting, putts for a bit then dies. I have hooked a make shift throttle cable up and adjusted the idle so I think it'll go next try.

good idea. thats how i start my crf490cc. makes it just that little bit easier to pop. after putting a big bore on it the starter motor doesnt have enough juice to turn it over. so any help i can get ill take with the kick starter.

obviously get the engine to TDC before you jump on it as well.

i wonder if 'Aerostart' would help get those first pop's for you?
definitely works on my Ducati if i havent ridden it for a while.

sounds like you'll get there though

Awesome thanks for the tips mate. I always kick it from TDC. Its been strapped to the bench these last few times and I've been using my hand to "kick it". I need to bolt it down to something so I can actually get a decent kick to it

I just tie the engine to a milkcrate with a tie down strap, still takes 1 person to hold the ****er down and one person to kick, but if ya put the engine in a bare frame and tie to the crate it's much easier to start on your own YouTube - testing YX140

Cool thanks mate, I think the milk crate idea sounds like a winner cause I dont have a frame to mount it in. Will adjusting the idle screw help to get this first start? If so, which way do I adjust it to make the idle faster?

screw it in to idle faster and yea a high idle will start quicker, if you have troubles you can crack the throttle a bit that does the same thing as turning the idle up
also if the mixture is out it won't start so set it around 1.5 - 2 turns out

Lol thanks,
another way to start it is put like a besa brick on the ground and put a tiedown strap around that and the head then semi stabelise it with one hand while kicking with the other...
Good luck and I'm keen to see the cart;)
