exhaust manifold

when i was putting my exhaust pipe back on I tightened 1 one of the bolts (that attaches it to the engine/exhaust manifold) too tight and it snapped off. Now i only have 1 bolt holding it on, i thought it would be ok, then i went for a ride and it was backfiring like a mother ****** cos there was air getting into the pipe. Anyone else had this happen, and how did you fix it, i mean remove the bolt and put a new one in... i hope i dont have to pull apart the engine, cos i dont have any spare gaskets...

use an ezyout to get the broken bolt out

happened to me i had to buy new bolts from Yamaha not cheap $20 this was on my old bike.

probably cheaper at a bolt shop.

Drill the bolt and stick an ez out in it. Ez outs are used for that exact type problem.

easy outs are hard to use at that size...you may have to get it re drilled and threaded..sorry dude

buy some new gaskets and yeh what daniel40 said go to a bolt shop and see if they have the same bolt as what u need... srry i dont know how to get a brokent bolt out maybe try drilling it out or somthing....

if it's broken flush with the head, pliers won't work, best bet would be to use reverse drill bits

ezy out will work on that size bolt if u know how to use them

If you dont know how to fix it then you probably need the help of someone who has the tools and the skills to do it properly. I have always found that the cheap (hardware store) ezy outs snap and leave you in a worse position than when you start (you cant drill the suckers out as they are too hard).

I could have it sorted in 10 minutes at work so would suggest you take it to a mechanic rater than buy a set of ezy outs.

If you havent already done it I would suggest you invest in some high tensile bolts and loctite and go over the whole bike.
