just wondering if anyone knows of anything i can use to stop my feul tank from leaking. Its leaking from the thread where the pet cock screws onto my tank. its not a bolt on one it is built into the plastic.I tried a hard setting gasket goo but the petrol seems to disolve it and i dont really waont to buy a new tank yet. Is it possible to rip the thread out and buy one of the screw in ones to replace it.

get the industrial strength silicone and put it on leaking spot when no fuel in tank, takes a few days for it to dry and should work, or get a new tank

just get a new fuel tank not worth fixing it when you could just get a new or second hand 1 off ebey

I had the same problem. The thing is, I found the design on how the valve is mounted onto the tank is not the best thought of way and I was concerned that the new tank would just have the same prob. I requested a replacement anyway but as soon as I received it, inspected the bottom and I had my doubts. I opted to return the new tank and worked on my old leaky one instead. A good two-part glue did the job. I say a good one as the first attempt with an off the shelf type of two-part glue didnt do the job. Three months hence, my tank, I'd say is even better than new.

ITs a common problem.

We use MARINE GRADE sealent....Cost around $15/

Remove tap and Place sealent around the tread rightalong the tank...

Make sure its nicely packed all around the thread..Wait a day..Tap on but dont overtighten..

Problem solved lasts ....Well we never had any back and the one at work was done 9 months ago..

Cheers
