you may think that but to some of us its our lifes!!
We not some posser try hard want to be!! There is some of us that this is what we do we ride/ race minis.
We in it for life!! My bikes may hav cost a bit more than some out of the box chinese copy, but im gunna hav for my kids to ride when they grow older , and cant say a china bikes going to able to hold up like a good old HONDA built z50!!
I cant say i seen you at any races on ya bike on the line at the gate , and i bet if ya did ya would nt be doing it on the same bike for years with out touching the motor like my good old crf ,3-4 yrs racing on same set piston and rings!!
You can hav some ***** build your bike for ya and another 1000 same as it or you could build a honda up yourself and hav a 1 of a kind bike that YOU built!! and know it will last the best testy of all time!!
HONDA FOR LIFE!! THE ORIGINAL AND ONLY 10 INCHES
Anything else is just a cheep copy!!
Lol MiniMulisha, it wasnt your bike i was referring to, as the "Shiny trophy hunter".. i was actually referring to another bike, entered by a member who contributes very little to Forum, other than entering bikes in FOTM... We used to have similar people in the Street Rod community when i used to build street cars and rods... Top end machines that hide in garages, owned by people who contributed nothing to the community other than to take awards.. Doesnt take away from the effort, money or time gone into a project, just the motive behind it, or the insult to the movers and shakers or valued contributors who make the effort to enhance the forum or whatever, and dont get a mention...
And no, you havent seen me at any races.. did my time behind start gates, spent the money, did the kms to race events, and yes, on a Jap Open Class mxer, so believe it or not, i do understand that at times, Jap QUALITY will outlast a China.. and yes, the old YZF400 is still going strong, on it's second set of rings.. No, i dont expect the Blitz to last the same amount of time, and still be competitive..
My argument was actually against trophy hunter types chasing a free prize pack, from a forum they dont contribute to actively...

thump140 didnt you spend over $3000 building your china?? thats how much my crf50 build cost! so dont think im spending to much on a toy then.
Yes. Yes i Did. :D worth every cent too, and will do it all over again with the Blitz and the MiniBlitz... It was a tongue in cheek comment at the prices of Sano/taky/Five-O parts that a premium must be paid for, cause it has "USA" stamped on it, despite the fact it's probably been manufactured in China..
I too would have to agree with the boys on this one. Building these things are a passion for people. If you can afford it, then good on you. You bag the bling then vote for a Z50 WHICH IS A HONDA and is blinged!! :D

There is an appropriate Greenday song for you Thump, "Walking Contradiction". ;)

.
Lol Barryman, i didnt bag the bling... i like bling... bling is rather awesome, as i have proved with the Bling-40... I bagged the cost of said "Made in USA" bling, for CRF's/KLX's etc. Despite comments, i'm not detracting in the slightest, the time, effort or appearance of any of the CRF's entered this month... Seems my intended insinuation was missed, in regards to trophy hunting.. lol..
As for my voting for MiniMulisha's Zed, i wouldnt say it's blinged.. I actually referred to it as a stealth build... nothing stealthy about Bling. ha ha ha.

And yes Barryman, i do actually understand "passion" when it comes to building ANYTHING. There's 13 bikes in my shed, and not one of them is stock standard. of the 23 bikes that have passed through my hands, none remained stock. Every one of my bikes is or has been modified, some more than others. At times in the past, i've spent money i didnt really have, in the pursuit of a passion, in building something better than standard, and different to anything anyone else has... I've always done the same with cars. I've never owned a stock vehicle in my life, and in my younger and more "fiscally irresponsible" days, i managed to justify spending $75k on a $15k Ricer...
Difference is nowadays i dont have the spare cash to drop all the money on my Jap bikes... The passion to build something is still there, so what spare cash i do have, goes into the chinas... I'd love to have the money to build something like MiniMulisha's zed, or better still, something like Snitchy's zed.. sad fact is i dont, so it's chinas for me, which *can* be built into the same weapon a CRF can using the right parts, with the right amount of research and thought gone into building it..
So yes mate, i do get the whole "passion of building something" regardless of cost..
No biggy when fresh motor is only 400 bucks .... tell ya what .... you stay on your slow expensive RELIABLE bike .... and I'll stay on my FAST CHEAP unreliable one because I can fix it ...in fact I enjoy it :D

Look at the end of the day t's each too there own I'm sure we both enjoy riding and I think that's all that matters,I actually love hondas and what crew ut into them and really see value in em ...in fact want to build one but at 6.2"I just find my midsize more rideable.
Kudos to the Viking.. lol.. think Dready put it better than i did.. regardless of the origin of the bike, or the quality of the build, we build what we can with the means at our disposal, for the same result, to enjoy ourselves...

hey i cant find where is specifically said "Such and such's bike is crap"... hmm, perhaps i didnt actually say that... ;)

Thump*140's new 753 page book is due out next spring ;)

^^^^AWESOME!!! do it got pictures and fold outs and how-to sections on polishing turds???? ;)

yes many tips on how to turn ebay bikes in to full blown fakers... kind of like Putting HSV body kit & badges on a Executive V6

there is also a hole section called me myself & oko, goes in to much detail

think i might vote for a bike owned by someone who actually contributes to the forum, not just a shiny crf trophy hunter.... Just cause it's got Taky, Sano or Five-O written on it, doesnt make it a better bike. Means you've got too much money to throw at a toy.. ha ha.. Sorry i really dont subscribe to the whole Jap is a squillion times better than any china crap... Must really grind the gears of the Brand-name snobs to line up at the gates against a sea of chinas that cost a quarter of the price, yet with the same or better performance, without the work to get there... Funny how the Chinese can build the bike, straight from the showroom floor, that Honda riders have to build themselves....

MiniMulisha's stealth Zed is pure porn... got my vote... with Snitchy's big blocked Zed running a close second..

DvDrip, peter1230's bike may not be far from stock, but how many K1's have you seen?? It's rare, and makes the Bling on mine look like a half-assed afterthought... Stock isnt always bad or boring...

And MV24, that's the best i've seen your bike look young fella, well done... :D

Trophy hunter?? LMAO! i didnt know a picture of my bike would upset you so much.... how much has been spent on the bike isnt an issue it should be about the hard work and countless hours that has gone into the build to make it what YOU want not what other people wish they had. To sit there and accuse me of being a trophy hunter Just because i dont sit myself in front of a computer all day reading and replying to threads is abit wacked dont you think? considering you could just go and buy whatever is in the prize pack anyway. The reason i put the bike up was to upset people like you and clearly i have lol... and so the people that built it get the recognition they deserve (50 nut) as for the "top brand name" parts I personally only use these brands because they put up with the punishment.
So when are we going for a ride hot shot?:D:D nice zd bretto

hmm... mountain out of a molehill much people??
this FOTM is ALL quality as opposed to past FOTMs where there was one or two standouts, and the rest were average or stockers...
My vote came down to three bikes, and my vote went to the one that appealed to me, (a Honda, shock horror, call the China-police!!!) and i've stated why the other two (Gregs and Snitchy's) didnt get my vote ultimately... I can see i should have used a whiteboard for diagrams and a powerpoint presentation to explain it...
Funny really, cause the amount of time, effort, thought, research and care taken in build of my 140 is probably on par with most of the CRF's of similar modification extent...
Yet because it doesnt have "Honda" written on it, it was relegated to POS status throughout the entirity of last months FOTM, and is bagged on a daily basis throughout this forum as a shitbox ebay china bike.... but oddly lost by only one vote against a handful of CRF's.....
ps: I think with work commitments, i should be good to go for a ride sometime around Easter next year if you are in the area... ;)

lol, dude i never said the bike shouldnt have been entered, or that it was not of sufficient quality (which clearly it is) or that the sky isn't blue enough over tasmania, or anything like that...
Just said that's why you got my vote, not the other bikes...

*looks around for fire extinguisher and box of kleenex to mop up the tears*

Come on girls dry your eyes. Why is every one so up tight about & pi**ed about the 106. Like i stated before ( CHINA BIKES ARE LIKE BUM HOLES EVERYONES GOT 1) & because we build something yous cant why cry, who cares its meant to be all about the fun factor no the $$$ signs. My BBR build started around my CHINA desert, it was the only bbr around running a 110 china, then updated to china 124 after 4 engines it was time to buy honda but otherwise was good except for replacing broken parts after every ride..

!!!
Are you sure you arent perturbed by my opinion mate?? the multiple tantrums directed at me, would have me think otherwise....

Aaah... so you have only joined MR, to enter FOTM then... *giggle*...

why are you guy Arguing about JAP vs CHINA

you can buy a full mod motovert pro for just under $4000
and you can buy a STOCK Honda 50 for $2000

with a good china bike like motovert pister pro and ciniworks you don't need to spend alot to make them raced prep
but with a honda you need $6000 to $8000 from what ive heard
to race in the 88 lim class
and to race a motovert or lxr
and spend like $1000 or less

no you dont need 6000-8000 to build a nice crf50 i built mine for 3000 and its much better then a 4k motovert!! id rather pay 2k for a stock crf50 and keep it stock then pay 4k for a motovert.

your bike not even in it mate get over it . its guys like you who give 50 riders bad names . i wish i could be just half as sick as what you are :D

It probably would ... why does everyone always come back with that.... my 150 will eat any honda motor....
There is only so much you can do with Honda 50 engines... why do you think all the china engines have gone to Klx topends..

Compare the big bore china engines to a Slightly modded Klx engine.... and you have no hope..

Honda engines pretty much belong in 10" Bikes , and they can make all the power you need in a 10" chassis.
