Hi Folks. I am putting together a bike for a mate. Its a new PSTO TL160. It went together beautifully and looks a treat. It was a ***** to start out of the box but once warmed up started about 4th or 5th kick each time.
We went to go riding yesterday and it started 1st go. He rode it for about 400m and it fueled up and stopped.
It is near impossible to start now. It will idle at a high idle but wont rev. It backfires badly out the carbie (caught fire). The Molkt seemed to be filling up with fuel to the point of constantly over flowing. I adjusted the float level to a better level and no change. To me it sounds like the choke is stuck on but for the life of me I cant see how the choke works or how to test to see if it is Stuck on.
Does anyone know anything about these carbies or had the same problem. All suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Things I have done.
Checked valve clearances. .003 and 004.
Adjusted floats. Needle and air mixture.
New plug.
Checked all wiring.

thanks guys and girls.

Molkt Carby Problems

Hi

PM Reefy as he spent a bit of time sorting out the Molkt carb the best he could on his stock PSTO TL160 when he first received it and had it running ok.

From memory 100 main jet and 1.5 turns out on the air screw for a starting point.

Cheers

Jaimie

I had a similar problem with my molkt. It sounds really basic but check if the little piece that stops the fuel flow attached to the floats is still there.... it falls out easy and without it fuel keeps on flowing... also check if the manifold is the right size for the carby, I had the wrong one and the thing was a dog to start and riding was just about impossible.

Thanks mate. Everything in the carbie looks intact. It sounds like the choke is stuck on. It dont change revs or how it idles when I pull the choke on. The manifold looks like its the right size. If it wasnt it would not of ran ok when I first started it and then played up now surelly?

I put another carbie on it. still did it. Revved its brains out and it cleared. Now with the other carbie on it there is no dramas. Not sure what it was. The Molkt is still flooding. The float dont seem to be stopping the fuel flow no matter how much I adjust it. If it was my bike the Molkt would be in the bin.

Haha lol

Well my Molkt certainly got the boot after I found that the choke adjustment did nothing and it ran horribly.... the OKO is heaven compared to it

When I adjust the float level it either lets no fuel through at all or it totally fills the bowl. There is no in between.

there is only one suggestion you will get out of me lol, get rid of the molkt and replace with an oko26.
or return the molkt for warranty..

molkt's have a bad reputation for acting like this, not all but most..

yeh I was thinking that when it seemed no mater what I did it still pored fuel every where. I have seen threads started n here about this problem in the past and just skimmed passed them but wishing now I had of read them. Always the way I guess. What carbie would be good on 155 with V2 and s35 thats not an OKO? Im thinking of buying something else for my bike and give my mate my OKO.
