i bought a new bke not to long ago and i have had a number of problems with it allready :(, one of them them problems now being that the spark seems to be shorting out some how. when i ride the bike i can hear a crakling sound and when i put my figer on the coil just above the spark plug i get zapped and also the bike dies some times when i give it some throttel.

can anyone help on this please ?

yeah what type of motor is it (2 or 4 stroke and CC size) exact same thing happened to me on my 49cc two stroke scooter - the ignition coil was vibrating loose off the top of the spark plug and everytime i went to push the rubber plug back down it would shock the hell out of me.

not the coil, but the spark plug boot...get an ngk one, from any old bike shop, preferably with a 5k resistor...though you wont find many without a resistor anyway, so....

if you start it at nite, i bet youll see the spark:)

down near the left footpeg there'll be a an engine number stamped under on it something like IP55FMJ just google the number

dont know man couldnt find any thing on google with lifan. the number was tzh157fmi - 60908140.

is that a lifan engin no ??

after a google search it looks like that's the engine that comes in a thumpstar 125, I don't know what brand it is

yerr the coil is probably stuffed.. with mine i can push my coil in further into the head of the sparker.. and you will get zapped if you try to touch it when then bikes running.. this is probably just a matter of getting a new coil.

yeah well i did a bit of research on the internet and i found that my engine is a tanaka.

im guessing thats **** house ??.

any way today i went for a fairly long ride on it and i got a fair way from home when the engine just died i was just goin along at a cruiseing speed bout half throttle in top gear.

i first thought it was running to lean, so i took the spark pulg out and it was black on the rims sorta brownie black on the top and tan on the white bit, and only tan sorta on one half of the white bit.

now i ****** around with the screws on the carb now the motor will only start and run with the choke on. (i dont have a f***in clue about motors)

so i got the ***** and just gave up for the day, so now i was wondering if any one knows how to set up the screws on me carb? or knows whats goin on with the motor?

its got a sheng carb.

tanaka used to be a damn good brand...of brushcutters...

not too sure about their bike engines, but if mountain says its a zongshen...its a zongshen:p

um...adjusting the screws made it stop running? hmmm. interesting, as they basically do nothing really. ones idle and ones low mixture... sounds more like a blocked jet.
