Hi all, I've got a monster (orion or apollo) 125 kick/electric start, the cdi box got ripped out and the connector got smashed anyone got a wiring diagram or a pic of the cdi still on the bike plugged in I could use as reference? I have no idea where these wires go!!!! the cdi box has a 9 pin connector and the 2 bolt terminals for the starter on it.
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
I'd put a pic of the box on here but I don't know how.
thanks, Mark

I'd buy a new cdi, have a look at the mso website, they sell them pretty cheap.

thanks, I found a new cdi box. but does anyone know the pin-out of the 9 pin connector on this thing? since the harness plug got ripped off I'm going to have to solder the wires back on. or does anyone else have this style cdi box that they wouldn't mind taking a pic of and posting it or emailing it to me? please!!! All I can find is 4 and 5 pin cdi wiring diagrams

Are you sure it's 9 pin ? Most CDI's have a 6 pin plug but only use 5 of them .
Here's some info taken from directly looking at a wiring harness with a stock CDI plugged into it .

The white and yellow wires from the engine go to a rectifier so are not needed if the bike doesn't have battery charging , electric start , or lights . If they're not plugged into anything .......they should be taped up and sealed .....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking at the STOCK CDI unit tipped over with the ends facing to the top and bottom and the plug socket facing towards you at the bottom - the wires go like this :

Top left ----------- centre -----------Top right
RED/BLACK ------- BLACK/WHITE ---------GREEN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bottom left ---------- centre -----------bottom right
BLACK/YELLOW ---- centre is blank-------BLUE/WHITE

HARNESS PLUG RETAINING TAB IS RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Racing CDI connection to wiring harness .

The Yellow wire out of the CDI goes to the yellow/black which goes to the ignition coil .

The GREEN wire out of the CDI goes to the GREEN (earth wires) to the kill switch / coil / engine and frame .

The BLUE wire out of the CDI goes to the BLUE / WHITE wire from the engine .

The RED wire out of the CDI goes to the BLACK / RED wire from the engine .

The BLACK wire out of the CDI goes to the BLACK/WHITE wire which comes from the engine and goes to the ignition kill switch . The wire from the engine can be either BLACK/WHITE or GREEN/RED .

marks56 its not the cdi ur talking about ur talking about the starter motor relay thing or whatever it is its a small cylinder thing with a rubber surrounding u might be best off getting rid of ur electric start and this cylinder thing i just took all mine off tonight its really unnesesary on pitbikes in wich most cases start first kick

Yes I thought so ........ the black cylinder is called the starter solenoid ...... it's basically a heavy duty electromagnetic switch designed to handle direct battery amperage and is activated by a lower current thru a switch on the handlebars ....... there'll be another 2 wires going to a finned alloy box (voltage regulator/rectifier) that controls the voltage coming from the stator ...........

I wish I was wrong, I have 2 bikes, a 110 and a 125. the 110 is set up like your talking about. but the 125 looks like this:
eBay Motors: NEW MINI CHOPPER / PIT/ DIRT BIKE CDI/START SILANOID A (item 280137770217 end time Sep-24-07 10:31:49 PDT)
I got the new cdi/starter solenoid thing but I can't find another bike like this one to compare the harness plugs too?!! this thing is driving me crazy. I went to 4 local shops that sell these imports and they are telling me this is a honda part?!
what do you guys think?

its hard to tell from the ebay picture but the white connector has 3 rows with 3 pins each row. the bike says monster all over it and the engine says ducar. at this point if you guys come back and tell me you haven't seen anything like this before.... I'm just gonna rewire the whole bike! its not like I need electric start anyway, I'm just curious if any of you have seen this type of cdi box before?

oh, one more thing, this bike doesn't have a voltage regulator/rectifier. everything runs into this box. wierd bike huh!

What you have there is an all in one CDI box with built in starter solenoid and voltage rectifier ........ = 9 pins ..... 5 for the CDI ... 2 for the solenoid activation ...... and 2 for the reg/rectifier (stops battery and lights from getting too much voltage) ........ you're going to have to sort out which pins are for the CDI and which pins activate the starter solenoid by testing with a test light or an electrical test meter ......... the left over wires would then be from the regulator /rectifier ..... .......... Cumulo Numbnus = cloudy thoughts .......

you wouldn't happen to have a picture of one of these plugged in on a bike that I could use as reference would you? or anybody for that matter. or wiring diagram?

bud take ur electric start off and rewire the bike to take 1 of these cdi's
