Hi guys.

Firstly just like to say the sites great, have looked at heaps of posts and its been a great help, cheers.

I race karts at the moment and love it, problem is there's not much modifications aloud in karting.

I really want like a 70 or 90cc mini dirt bike to run and look after, and of course modify as I go. I'm looking at just getting a cheap one to start off with ( $500 around).

Looking around Ebay, the bikes look great but knowing Chinese quality...

Any suggestions, anyone selling a good second hand bike I can start off with or know a good cheap brand.

Also what kind of modifications do you guys like to do on your bikes?

Exhaust, engine upgrades, filters etc etc etc..

Thanks in Advance

Im in Sydney NSW.

Forgot to add.

Not really looking at really expensive/ top of the line bike.

Just really a muck around bike to hit some small dirt tracks etc.

I have mechanical experience so looking after the bike is no worries.

Any starting suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

why do you want a 70 or 90 cc is it because of semi auto? its just that the 125's are very common and you'l probly pick up a good second hand one quicker. 1 option is 2 keep an eye out in the classifieds section and when you find one you like probly just post it up in the right spot and everyone would give u their opinion on it. if you plan on doin mods ther are heaps of topics already, just use the search button towards the top of the page. welcome to miniriders

Oh yeah thanks for your reply.

Was looking at the 125's. Can you get like a smaller type frame with a 125 motor on it? I really want just a mini thing thats just the right size, not anything big.

Cheers

most of the crf type bikes are pretty small. The klx ones are usually bigger and some of the weird shapes like atomic and tdr are bigger. If you want small probably stick to crf style but check dimensions such as seat height and wheel base, most new bikes will have this listed in their ads. If not dont be afraid to ask question cause there are heaps of people on here that own all sorts of bikes mate. the minibike reviews section is an awesome place to do some research on different bikes also. good luck

forgot to ad that a lot of smaller bikes have 10 inch wheels and most 125's have 12 inch back and 14 inch front, this makes them a bit bigger but they handle way better

Aight cheers for your help guys.

Could you recommended a 125 in about the $500 range? With the smaller type crf style chassis? I know it'll be S%^& to start off with but may aswell work my way up. Or know of someone selling a good condition one.

Cheers

Hey mate, welcome to miniriders
How big are you roughly?
Makes a difference in getting a good sized bike.
A 50 or 70, i think you would get bored with.
125s are still pretty small.
From my experience stay away from cheap crap ones
Im only 55kg and have had only problems with mine
And still the engines pretty gutless so mods would be a good idea
Id reccomed a pitpro, ive heard good things about them from people
Aparantly they are good for the price

yeah I got a pitpro and its good for $600. They are just a little bit bigger than some others cause the frame is extended about 6 inches longer than my old bike but it makes it way better to ride. It is nice and reliable so far too, Ive only had it a couple a months but I give it a good hiding and its been no probs. One thing to consider is if you buy a real cheap bike you could easily spend more money on fixin it all the time than if you bought a bit dearer one. It depends what you want to do with it but, flog it or just cruise

Hey mate,
Probably something like a pitpro 125 from ebay would be good (and cheap)
the only real mods you'll need are uni filter, new chain, new oil, and just general maintenance as things wear.. Oh and and loctite every bolt...
Cheers.

Yeh I saw those new 09 110 R's with the tri-swingarm which look pretty neat. But if you're used to going really fast on a kart then I suppose a 110 wouldn't be much power...

Yeah cheers for your help guys.

I'm not sure what my actual height is, probably like 5"10.

Weigh 60kg, 16 years old.

If you could link me one of those pitpro's or a similar type that would be sweet.

Cheers
