Really easy the longest part is waiting for it to dry. Only takes 5min.

NOTE: I didn't run this on my bike it was a spear that just got heaps dirty.

Cheers.

and don't forget to re oil the filter as well with a air filter oil only, not a motor oil. The oil keeps out the dust not the foam, a dirty oiled filter is better then a clean non oiled one.

^True I forgot that.. I even have the oil out in the shed. I'll get the photos of what it'll look like and add them to the thread

Thanks for reminding me :D.

Yeah good simple how to Bulldog! Nice one.

What's with step 5 though? Dont you mean drown the air filter?

air gun??? wouldnt that blow the dirt and sht out the other side making holes???

No. After washing it, all the dirt and **** is out of the air filter. Best that you hold it fairly far away from the air filter if your that worried about it. Didn't make any holes in mine and I was holding it at least 5 - 10mm away. Also it's best you blow from the inside of it.

Haha, Yes thats thats I ment.

Make the air filter soak as much of the turps up as possible. I only put about 100ml in and compressed the aif filter into the turps and then you rub it and then squeeze all the turps out again I did this about 5 times.

Dont know about the washing in hot soapy water, extract below from the Unifilter Website

Should I wash out the foam with soap and water after cleaning with mineral turps?” No! – this action is completely unnecessary. After cleaning with mineral turps pad the foam dry with an absorbent cloth. Any further residue will evaporate within minutes. Should the foam be immersed in water, then if every trace of moisture is not removed prior to re-oiling it will be trapped within the foam by the oil and cause long-term damage to the foam’s structure.

FAQ's

^^^^ for example, pitty manufactures often say not to modify the bike or may cause damage...
not all mods do.
i think washing in soapy water is good.
that is my personal opinion and i am not saying it is correct. but i do it.

That extract also says

with soap and water after cleaning with mineral turps

Where as I do it befor washing with turps. Turps will eat up any other left over particals of the cloths washing powder ;).

Each to their own I guess.

you can get air filter cleaner. i got a pack with air filter cleaner, oil and rim grease for about $20ish.
if your in a hurry to dry it i use a hairdryer :p otherwise air dry.
