hey, Ive been riding an Ares 125cc dirtbike purchased a few years ago and just discovered that it came with a um poor quality air filter, which in turn let dirt and crap into my carbie up to the point where it would not run at all. So i decided to take it apart (my first mistake) and when i went to put it back together i do not remember how far in the air/fuel mixture screw should be in to achieve optimum performance, or at least get higher than 6000 rpm. However i really have no clue what sound it should be making, at right mixture, so I would be very happy if someone could help me in some other way to essesntially tune my carbie(possibly just anyone who has the same bike just tell me the number of turns it needs to be out by).
thanks
(the pic is of my carbie, and the fuel-air mixture is on the right, idle on the left.)

IDLE screw is the RIGHT one,

The LEFT one is the PILOT adjustment, (good starting point is 1.5-2.5 turns out)

if the carby that full of dirt and not running anymore check if it not dusted

hmm, 1.5-2.5 turns and now it doesnt run with the choke on....
any idea?

If you need the choke on to make it run, than its a AIR screw not Fuel,

So put it at 3/4 out and it should run, try that,

nah it seems to run ok with choke off, with mixture screw 1.5-2.5 turns out but still blows some white smoke. it will not run however at the same setting with the choke on until you give it a rev, and it splutter and really doesn't want to run. and i was wondering if you could define 1 turn, do you mean a full rotation like 360 degrees, or just 180( i have had that go wrong once b4). and i cleaned the carbie out just before i put it back together. got me stumped,

yea i had it running ok, but i think my mixture is restricting it from revving, remember when we had the taco on it and mine was 1500rpm less than urs. reckon i could borrow that and see what difference it makes?

1 turn = 360

But remember that screw setting only affects from idle to roughly 1/4 throttle openings,

So if its still running rough in the mid range-full throttle area than its either your jets clogged or throttle slide setting,

you probabaly should have just got a new carb for the bugger.mukuni is best.
i had to ajust my carb so it would idle probably i done it so it idled smoothly but not to much and it goes great!!!

hmmm had an electric taco which somehow reads electric surges to spark plug, and it reads max 5,500 rpm wtf....... is this just my bearings screwed or what??!?!!!

u sure turn to 720 degrees? seems far out.... got to 540 degrees but it maxes at 5500rpm...... but not blowing smoke anymore and will idle slower than before smoothly

nah mate, at that far out it idles at about 1000rpm which is smooth and quiet, for some reason i think the screw is designed backwards. also i took the needle out of the slide and moed the surclip up, as to lean out the air/fuel mixture, as i felt it was too rich. seems to run much better, not blowing smoke or anything now even at full revs, but i think my bearings need replacing severly, as it will not exceed 5500rpm at max. any ideas why so? and wher ei can get the parts to replace it, like new gaskets bearing etc, and how much, help appreciated thanks
