hi you guys.

firstly ill start with a pic.

(this pic isnt one of my bike but its the same thing)
shocklinkage_800x600.jpg

see the green circle. well on my bike on both sides where the linkage joins to the swing arm the welds are seperating from the swing arm.

now my grandad says i will need a mig welder. but no one i know has one. and the echunga garage down the road from us says they can weld the two 5cm pieces of metal back on but they are charging an arm and a leg to fix it ($70 friggin bucks!) so im wondering if any one on here knows anyone that will be able to do it for cheaper or for free.

i really want to get this fixed and go for a ride. cos i cant while it in this condition its too dangerous.

IF it's alloy , you need to find somebody who has a TIG welder ... Any cracks need to be ground out , "V'd" , thoroughly cleaned then carefully welded to get the full metal thickness back and maybe even strategically gussetted to prevent the same thing from happening again ...

What type of bike is it (Honda CRF ?) ... Now you know why a lot of people buy chingas ... you can buy a new swingarm for $70 ... :p When you own a Jap bike the cost of repairs goes up substantially ... ie if you own a battered up Holden ... shops charge a reasonable price to do a repair on account of knowing you're a poor MOFO ... if you own a Porsche , they charge you an arm and a leg ... but they DO chuck in a "free" glass of champaign and make sure you're sitting down when the neatly suited business manager hands you the bill ...
