Is the GPX125 race motor really that great?

I've bitten the bullet and I'm gonna fix up my 10 incher again, starting with a spankin' new motor..

I'm debating getting the gpx 125 race motor from DHZ and just wondering if it will be too much for the tiny bike? It's mostly going to be used around acreage and general tom foolery with the guys up the street.
And will an oko make the top end too snappy?

Cheers in advance for any input :)

the gpx 125 would be a good engine they go good from what my mate has said and the oko will make the power like "LIGHT-SWITCH"/"ON-OFF" Power

Hey mate

I was a bit hesitant toward the little beast at first... but when my friends 140 lifan died we decided to go a GPX 125cc... I can say that it runs really nice, its got nice power and is very responsive. As far as reliability goes Ive heard they are good but I wont be able to tell you definantly as my mates only had the engine for about 4 months now, but the engine is still going strong thus far.

For the price they are a great engine and I would recommend getting one.

Carlton

Thanks for the quick response!
How often does he ride and do you know what carb he's running?
Sorry to be a pest ha ha, just don't wanna spend alot of dough on something that's gonna be more trouble than it's worth

Hes running his stock carby of an orian with a 140cc lifan so probably not the best... But Id recommend an OKO any day. After putting one on my GPX 160cc, I found the bike a dream to start and she ran beautifully... though there may be other cheaper alternatives that are just as good for carbies

I have one in my motovert expert with a oko flatslide and it pulls harder Thant old 140

Nah! it won't be to much for a 10"er, I run a Daytona 125 in mine and its fun fun fun! You have to be gentle on the throttle while still turning as it wheelspins and loops pretty easy but that is the fun of it. I run mine with a 26 oko and it does make it a nice top end that will run with guys on 140's and crap riders on 150's!

my advise with this engine in a 10'er is to run a quality round slide carb.. good overall power just like the oko but not so aggressive down low.. PE26 off something like a ktm65 would be good..
