just by the look of that thing, I would say either Lifan or Jialing. Both you would see yourself happy with that price tag.

I just thought they put their name on all their engines. LOL

it is a lifan, the only thing that says lifan on the engine is on the flywheel cover an on that engine they have changed the cover to a different one
the standard cover covers the front sprocket

but its not really a 138cc its 127cc id say if you can save $50-80 more a buy a lifan 140cc

It appears to be one of the genuine Lifan 127's (54 x 55.5) with 138 on the cylinder ! It's got the Lifan quality control certificate with it . Just ask him (thru contact seller) to guarantee that it's a genuine Lifan and will come in a sealed and unopened box from the Lifan factory - then save the email plus his reply - then pay him with a credit card or paypal (if he takes it) - then hit him with "item not as described" and get a full refund if it turns out to be non genuine .

For some reason or other , some Lifans come with the logo cast on the side and some don't . DHZ's 140's don't have Lifan on the cases either - but they are delivered in a Genuine Lifan box and have the certificate with them . Some of the all black 140's on ebay have Lifan on the cases - it's a bit of a head scratching situation . Maybe a seller can shed some light on the subject ?

I have a Lifan 120 with 124 in raised casting on the cylinder and it has Lifan cast on both cases and was delivered in the Lifan box with the inspection certificate . I paid more for it (at the time) than our 140 . Who knows - maybe Lifan sells the engines a bit cheaper without the logo on the cases !

138's sold in the US have Lifan on the side and look the same as the 124's :

eBay Motors: LIFAN 138CC ENGINE MOTOR XR50 CRF50 XR CRF 50 Z50 125CC (item 270125180568 end time Jun-05-07 02:29:11 PDT)

Maybe they have a "special" ebay sellers order line with assembled engines that have blank cylinders sitting in boxes ready to go . Then when they get an order for a certain cc capacity engine , they quickly get an assembly line of old peasants with small hammers and centre punches to give them their cc capacity ????????????

We carry the Lifan 140cc engines complete with oil cooler etc,and we are not Ebay sellers,..
I cant work out why you guys have such a hard on for the Ebay sellers when shops carry the same parts for equal or even better pricing Sighhhhhh... The way things are going One day you guys are going to find there are No Bike shops anymore and you will even have to bid on Ebay for the Air in your Tires .....

Cheers Brian

In the first pic to the link there u see how it shows the frount sprocket.

i want one of those covers. i have the full cover were u dont see that..

Only doing my homework guys. Didn't say I was going to buy it. Just wondering why their name wasn't on it, is all!

Brian, I will be seeing you about an engine. I've worked out by the time I bid, win and pay for shipping etc, it'll be just a few $ more to buy from you. Plus you're local.

You appear to be one of the good shops with sensible prices and a good attitude but shops like you were nowhere to be found when I bought my engines and parts to build 4 bikes from scratch ! Also - you're on the other side of Australia and large items tend to get knocked around during long transits - plus people get cheesed off having to wait a week - I've bought from SA a few times . It's ebays existence that has brought prices down to a - "get interested in motorcycles again" level .

Before I bought my engines - shops Quoted me $550 each and $950 a set for Fast Ace AS-02's - plus they wanted $350 each for the twin piped chromo frames ~ and billet wheels ??????? - Ha Ha Ha - too ridiculous to even mention but enough to give someone on Viagra a soft-on and butt cramps to go with it ! Most shops are effectively - horse shoe'ing themselves with a double ender when they charge ridiculous prices for spare parts !

Honda quoted me $260 for a 1973 XR75 cam chain tensioner because they were a "rare and discontinued part" . I took a punt and bought two brand new '77 model genuine Honda tensioners from Canada for $35 US each ($96 AUD with postage plus a brake spring) and discovered that they are exactly the same tensioner that's on '73 to 2007 models including XR/CRF 80's.

Also - the Yamaha and Honda dealers want $25 each for rim locks - that are made in China ! So why should we support them when they make riding and repairing bikes cost a stack more than it should in reality ! Charge high prices = sell less ~ it's as simple as that !

Remember this - The Aussie , US and Jap manufacturers and shops made it viable for ebay and the entire chinese industry to exist in the first place ~ just like how the local corner stores drove people to supermarkets and the local hamburger and chip shop made it viable for McDonalds and all the others to exist !

thats what annoys me, everyone says buy local etc etc, i got a price from my local bike shop, 10 min drive away, for a kenda carsland 12inch tire, $68:eek:

maylands gave me a price of $35 + $8 postage if needed, (not ebayer)

and they wonder why ebay bike parts are doing them outta business!!!!

i dont even go in there now, ill just go straight to the city (maylands) and get all my gear, "shop local" no thanks!!!

If Maylands performance had a better website I probably would buy off them,

the website like elstars.com.au have is just Oscommerce, which is a FREE Shopping cart software, there is 100's of small companys offering to setup this software for businesses for around $700-1000 including a years hosting.
there is more than half a million companys across the world using this free shopping cart software!

there is no real excuse for a business not to have a half reasonable shopping cart site these days!

my issue with most of the online shops for pitbike stuff around australia is, they either don't allow online buying, have crap info, pathetic tiny pictures with no actual info. expect me to ring up and buy, and don't offer any freight ideas.

the wonderful thing about ebay is.. it's all there in one place, good pics, good info, freight amount, everything, and thats why it's popular, because it's often easier.

trying to buy pitbike parts here in Perth is hard work, either the stores carry nothing, or the ones that do charge a serious fortune, if you mention to them you bought 1 part of ebay, or saw the same thing, then they go into histerics.. I can understand it to one point, but they don't have to take out there disgruntlement on the consumers.. if there is competition, forget about it, compete or get out of the industry..

at the end of the day, as a consumer, we want the best price, the best service and reliability and we want it fast..

we are horrible bastards to deal with.. LOL
