Does anyone have any tips on getting the front sprocket off atomiks? Have chewed through 2 chains cause the sprocket wobbles and was trying to tighten or replace the sprocket but cant seem to find a way to get off the plate on the front of it. Any help would be appreiciated.

I think it is meant to wobble a bit... me and a few mates atomiks all have some movement... and none of us have damaged the chain yet...
I took mine off to see if I could tighten it, but it doesnt seem possible... like its setup to have some play...
From memory, it came off really easy...just undoing the bolts..?

Anyone else with an atomik got the wobbly front sprocket?

Yep noticed the same..... Still running the OG chain though, even after about 6-8hrs. Tightened after each ride but still got a bit left in it.

Cheers guys, might just keep more tension on the chain and see if it helps.

Or less tension depending on how you have had it previously..... I usually tension so there is a 2 finger width gap between the bottom of the chain and the top of the swingarm, measured at the rear of the plastic chain slider....Measured while you are not on it of course... usually propped up on a stand....

at a guess i would say its too tight... i been measuring mine with about a finger an a half when the bike is grounded. What does the front sproket look like now? Might be time to get a new one anyway, as you may have already chewed it out, post a pic.

correct way to tension the chain is with the rider seated on the bike and then about 25mm play at the chain slide..

ya gotta remember with most of these bikes that the more the rear shock is compressed the tighter the chain gets, too tight and ya end up killing gearboxs and too loose and it will come off all the time till eventually it snaps the pick up sensor off on your stator plate..

I had only just put on a new chain last time with the correct tension, though I had ridden for an hour or so on a short track and hadn't retensioned afterwards. Next ride out i called it early because I noticed that everytime I was on the power it felt like the chain was slipping. I can only put this down to the wobble in the front sprocket was causing the chain to half come off. On the way home, the chain slipped again going up a hill and it popped off and wrapped around the rear and snapped. Is there a way of replacing the sprocket altogether? or does that mean changing the driveshaft?

You can change the sprocket no probs...it is not fixed to the driveshaft...
I will go out and take it off my bike tomorrow, and give you a rundown if that helps...

OK... just removed my front sprocket... about a 3 miute job...

Undo the 2 bolts on the sprocket...
There is a small plate that fits over the driveshaft and holds the sprocket down.
You just have to turn this plate a bit so the teeth on the plate match the teeth on the driveshaft, and it simply just slides off....
Then the sprocket slides off too...

This plate is made to rotate a bit once it is over the driveshaft, so its teeth dont line up, and then it cant come off... does this make sense? Do you need to see photos??

Thanks for the advice guys. i checked a mates pitpro the other day and he had similar wobble on his sprocket so Ive ordered a new chain and will play with the tension. If I have anymore issues Ill get back to you. Many thanks.

If you find that the sprocket's teeth are excessively worn-especially if they're hook-shaped or exhibit high wear on the inner and/or outer sides-chances are the chain needs to be replaced.

Remember if you replace the chain, you should also replace both sprockets at the same time. These three items wear as a set, which shouldn't be a surprise if you think about it.
