hay mate i know what your talk about i'v had that and for me it was the mane dive gear was missing some teeth and was crunching

first befor u do any thing drane your oil and then see if there as bits in it
then i'll tell u more ok i'd say go now and get back to me

i just drained my oil and i found tiny specs of steel/metal in it

do you know where i can buy one from and roughly how much?

u dont even know what is wrong with it and your telling him what to buy. wtf

for starters are you confident at disassembling the engine to have a look?
you might even have to split the case depending on the engine.

if you can do this then, go for it and have a look.

if not i advise you give it into a shop to look at and fix the problem

worst advice ever.

youll have broken kick starter gears and/or broken/cracked right hand center case..

youll need to pull the right hand side of the engine apart to see.

thanks for everyones advice i think its best i just take it down to the shop

lol. I had to swap them out in the motel room, at midnight, last weekend. After the second one on the back of the basket spit teeth, I left the idler out and bumped it. Still the weakest link in the Chinese motors, as far as I'm concerned.
