I believe that track days should commence from Sunday the 11th of January. The access road has been resealed and that’s the only possible problem if it hasn’t been finished, I should know on Monday so will post a definite answer as soon as I know.

Saber

The council imposed noise limit is still the same. Unfortunatly I dont see this changing but in my view it is a small price to pay for having access to such a gr8 track.

Saber

I have not received the call to say the track will be open tomorow so I assume that it isn't. I will post here when I hear something.

Saber

Ok I have received the oficial word for lakeside, 1st day back is the 1st of March, this will be a combination of raceday and practice. There has been an increase of track fees to $50 per rider but this covers the rider for the practice and race heats.
here is a copy of the email I received:

Seems they have their shit sorted, might make an effort to go watch. Won't ride up there to with the restrictions on exhaust. Motards make 1/2 the noise that the pockets do on full noise! Might take my db meter up to prove my point, altho i feel still pointless.

i just think its a bit rich to ask people to race there but make them us the exhaust. maybe if i could get a twin pipe or a performance pipe i would be more keen. take ur db measureer pete

yep Jovian the same noise restrictions apply, the use of the controll muffler is requried for all bikes.
It would be interesting to see the difference in sound level between the pockets and the pit bikes no crf, I would be interested to see what you get with a Db meter.

The senior class is any pit bike up to 150cc.
oil catch cans will be required.

Saber

i think if i ever get mine sorted i will have a race. are there any trick exhuast available as yet that don't hinder the performance ?

Hi Jovian
Yea some ppl have made some inovative exhausts using the controll muffler (you have seen my low pipe) there are others that have done twin mufflers that seem to work quite well, I have seen twins done both high and low. I have even seen one system that had triple mufflers, although I dont personaly belive that triple is any advantage. By my way of thinking twin mufflers would be the way to go, this way you are reducing the exhaust presure on each muffler therfore equaling less restricted. The reports I have had from the ppl that have done twins is that it works well.

Saber

cool cool, i have two of the pipes but both are really small diameter, wats available?

Hey guys/girls.

Council imposed noise restrictions are a major factor to riding at Lakeside..

This restriction is imposed on Minimoto, Motard, scooters, RC Boats and any vehicle that uses the main track whether it be a family sedan or race car..

In regards to db testing.. I have personally tested the Minimotos and can 100% guarantee that all Minimots are under the limit Since we introduced the custom made control slip-on muffler.. People say that 2 strokes are louder, I say they are around the same just a different tone..

Believe me. I will continue to monitor all bikes for noise.. If any bike is over the limit he/she will be asked to do something about it before they go back onto the track..

If people wish to modify their exhausts, they can.. Just remember, if your bike is over the limit you are off the track untill it has been rectified..

This IS the only way it can be!!! It really is no issue what so ever.. Realistically the way I and many others see it - it is a very small modification to make in order to run on such an AWESOME track..

Regards,

Management.

Jovian my muffler came from one of those small diameter pipes but I have adapted it to fit onto a 33mm od low pipe (home built). This system has been tested and has shown to be under the noise limit. The main thing is to not modify the internals of the muffler itself

Thanx for that management

Saber

There is also some restructuring of the classes for lakeside it is likley that we will be runing 3 senior motard classes
up to 140cc china class
japanese class
141cc up (outlaw) class

Saber

Also..

Seeing as March 1st is also the start date for cars to return to the main track, there will be alot of people there..If anyone gets stopped by a gate attendant wanting to charge you entry. As QR did this last year a few times for the car meets..

Just state that you are there for the 'Small Wheels Sunday'.. We(riders/teams) and our spectators don't pay entry..

I will post up all classes and specs for the Motards in the next day or so, along with a few other things that all competitors must understand..

Thanks,

Management.

i have friends 10year interested in racing. Wat gear etc will the kid need to ride. he is racing junior MX very well and is keen to have go on a tard.

i will def come out for a race at some point

SAFETY GEAR

Must be worn by all riders at all times when riding.

Protective Gear: Helmets must have an Australian approval rating of AS1698 or FIM approval rating. Helmet must have full face shield or goggles and must be made of a shatter-proof material and be in the closed position when racing.

Suitable protective attire made of durable fabric must cover the body in conjunction with knee and elbow pads. Or suits made of leather or a combination of both leather and fabric with protective armor on shoulders, elbows and knees is ideal.

Back (spine) protectors or built in back protection is optional but a great idea.

Footwear must be closed in with ankle coverage.

Gloves must be made of leather or durable fabric and must be in good shape without holes. Severely damaged or worn gloves are unacceptable.
