This topic has always confused me... I have rung several different bike shops before and both have given me me different answers.
It is regarding "turning" the air screw. I have asked bike shops before is a "turn" a 180 degree turn or is it a 360 degree turn? Some bike shops say 180 others say 360. Today I put a 105 main, needle clip in the middle and the air screw 2 turns out (180 each turn). My bike is pulling real hard in the mid range and top end now compared with the 100 main it used to have in it but its splutters and chokes bad when you rev is softly. So I'm guessing that the air screw is not letting in enough air and that it needs to be turned out more. So if a real "turn" is actually a 360 degree turn that means right now my air screw is only adjusted "1 turn out". Before i adjusted it was 3 180 degree turns out which means that it was really set to 1.5 turns out if a "turn" is a 360 degree...

So for the people who know what they are talking about is a "turn" classified as a 180 degree turn or a 360 degree turn

Looks like you've answered your own question ... 360 degrees. :D

yep, id be inclined to say one turn is 360deg. where a half turn is 180.. a 1/4 being 90... Makes sense...

If only more people payed attention in Maths... Lmao..

Yep its always screwed me around for the past several years... I found it strange when some bike shops would say 180 and others would say 360... And none of my bike manuals including a Suzuki one explained a "turn"...

what kind of carby are you running China or japan? coz i would say the china one's have no real tuning spec's just keep playing till you got it good.

as for a jap one they will be good as the Mikuni or keihin Distributor would be able to answer your questions if not even set it up for your kind of bike.

Its a Chinese Mikuni? I think its a 26mm carb. I have only ever had keihin carbs on my Hondas and Suzukis but still I could never get a 100% answer about the air screw... Thanks for your help guys.

I would change the clip to the bottom hole, Richer, and go about 2 and a half 360 turns out. Should fix the problem and will get rid of any flat spot you may have. Tried and tested.:)

A turn is 360 degrees.
If you need your air screw set less than about 1 1/4 turns out to get reasonable low speed running, then go up a size on the idle jet. If you need the screw 2 turns out (360 deg!) or more for good running then go down a jet size.

Thanks Mack. Will fix it tomorrow or friday.;)
