Gents,

I just purchased an XR50 frame pitbike with a Lifan 140 in it. It runs very rich and I want to re-jet it with leaner jets.

The local shop can get me the pilot jets on the right but they didn't know what the jets on the left were. It is stamped "W" and the carb says Mikuni on it.

Here is the carb:

Thanks in advance! Any help on jetting and where I can get the jets would be appreciated.

Sam

there is a number on each of them
it may be only just visible
sometimes rub them with scotchbrite and you can see the numbers better

do DHZ, one of the forum sponsers sell the jets? click on theier link and check it out
otherwise a motorbike shop should have a few sizes in stock or even kits
im pretty sure Ballards have a few kits available

lots on ebay, search mikuni jets, worldwide search bring up lots more

or try MR Bing or MR Google (i borrowed that from someone here i think, lol)
http://www.bing.com/search?q=mikuni+jets+kits&src=IE-SearchBox&rf=1&FORM=R5FD

i would do a search here on mikuni jetting and your size motor,
and see what other people are running,
in the end you will only use 1 jet,
if you buy a pack of 10 there will be 9 left over and doing nothing...except getting lost in your toolbox

Thanks. Yes, I did a google search trying to find a pic of the jet on the left (the main jet). I couldn't find one. The jet on the right has a 15 on it and I can get those and know what they are.

The main jet on the left has only a "W" stamped on it and the local carb guy doesn't know what type of jet it is and thinks it is a special Lifan jet. He doesn't even know what Mikuni jet would fit in there and doesn't want to order any jet kits because his warehouse doesn't take returns.

Local carb guy thinks *some* kind of Mikuni jet will fit but doesn't know what. I'm hoping someone on the board will know "oh, these kind of Mikuni jets fit."

Even better if someone knows the jet size that works well.

Thanks

depending if you have some spare cash mate get rid of that carby and buy a 26mm oko from dhz. Here is the link OKO 26mm FlateSlide Race Carby Kit - OKO
for the $119 dollars delivered you can not go wrong. The performance these carbs add is amazing to say the least and they seem to be the preferred option on here. I have one on my 140 and it rips

Thanks, gents. I just ordered 95-105 in those jets to see if I can get one to work for me. I also tried to buy the OKO carby you linked but their site isn't letting me buy it. I'll check them out later and see if it is working.

Thanks very much for the posts, gents.

yeah just normal mikuni round style jets..

as Terry pointed out.. in your picture you have the mainjet still attached to the emulsion tube.

i think its an 8mm spanner and obviously a screw driver to separate the jets

Yeah I don't know much about carbs. I removed the emulsion tube and it all became obvious. Thanks, gents. I appreciate the schooling. New jets are in the mail.

By the way, the jet on it was a 95. When I get it running well I'll post up what jetting I settled on in case someone finds this thread in the future and wants to know what worked here.

Dudes I hate this carb. I've run 82.5, 85, 87.5, 90 and 92.5 jets and the bike runs terrible with all of them. Maybe I need to go richer... ?! I'll try the 125 mentioned above. I'm also ordering the OKO 26mm flatside carby.

yeah mate save the frustration and just wait until the oko turns up.

97.5 should run fine but as you see above 102 is best.

everything you've tried is nothing mentioned

I'll give it a go at 102 and see. I ordered the OKO but if I can get it working in the meantime that would be great.

The 102.5 is awesome!!! This beast screams like a banshee!

Thanks, gents!
