Ok heres one for the Pit Bike gurus.

Id like to know how these Lifan engines lube the cylinder and top end.

The engine I have is a 140cc 1P55FMJ Lifan, which has the two outlets for an oil cooler underneath on the right hand side of the casing.

I want to (need to) tilt the engine upward approx 25 degrees. See pic. Can I just tilt it and the lubrication will not be affected? Or do I have to do some mods?

Hopefully somebody can tell me and save me stripping it to find how it works.

You may be be right to tilt it. The oil is pumped to the head via the bottom right hand stud passage and then into the end of the cam where it is then thrown all through the head via the oilways cast into the cam lobes. The crankpin is pressure fed and the the rest splash. The main problem I see would be the oil pickup. 25 degrees is not all that great but you would have to be certain the oil was available. You may be advised to extend the pickup point rearward by some added tube. You will have to pull the cover to see for yourself. Even if it can get oil at 25 degrees it may starve going uphill.

Yep will starve the pump for oil.
For most this is only temporary and usually not under full power, but if you can wheelie for ever it is something to keep in mind....

sell it and buy a 2 stroke, oil starvation will become issues IMO, unless like mack said you extend the pickup etc, or fill it with 1500ml of oil lol

Ok thanks for the input.

Sounds like il have to strip it for a squiz anyway.

2 stroke engine would be good for this project, maybe phase 2 :D

Down hill bike - come pit bike.

Uni engineering project.

WTF!!!! that looks sick!

Yep.

Your looking at a 50kg dirtbike / or a powered down hill bike. Depends how you look at it.

Its powered by a 140cc lifan start any gear etc.

Front end components are of a downhill bike, 200mm travel forks with a 200mm rotor.

Rear is a 19" wheel, which is the front wheel of an Atomik 250 ProX type thing.

Frame is all aircraft alloy.

Will be complete ready for testing in about 4 weeks times (at the latest)

This thing will eat up bmx tracks, and downhill bike tracks.

And will be also be illegal to ride at these places.

Ive seen these things on ebay before, they have a different frame so the engine isnt tilted.

Maybe illegal at proper race tracks, but they arent the only tracks on the planet mate. In Vic we have a thing called rec reg so you can ride in the bush.

If your talkin bout this, no you havent seen them on ebay, those are overgrown pit bike heaps of ****. :::::  S I K K   T O Y S   M X  :::::
