Hey guys, I just got myself a Motovert RX and was wanting to lower the bike in the front and rear, it's mainly going to be a road/motard bike. The front shocks are Marzocchi, if I pull the internals out, what would it take to get the front end to sit lower? The rear shock (Racing Shox) looks to have a few adjustable settings, will any of them lower the rear end? I'd like to get it about 10cm lower front and rear in order to have this sort of stance:

Cheers.

Hell ya that thing looks sweet, like a KTM motocrosser that has been totaly re done,

you shjould of started with a different bike, you will have to get shorter forks & shorter rear shockie

OK, shorter rear shock is an easy swap, but the front end I don't want to change because of all the gear that goes with it, I just want to lower it.

I chose this bike because it's road registered and want to ride it everywhere, not something you can do with the other pit bikes out there...

To shorten the forks properly and have them still function the same , you'd have to shorten the tubes , sliders and springs all by the same amount ... ie 5 cm off the sliders , 5 cm off the springs , 5 cm off the tubes ...

If you shorten any one part on its own by 10 cm ... you'll encounter bottoming or clunking problems ...

Check it for yourself using one plastic tube sliding inside another ...

You may be able to get around things by dropping the tubes in the triple clamps as far as you can ... then shortening the sliders but the travel can't exceed the length of the sliders sticking out of the tubes above the fork foot ... OR clunk ... :p

yeah proberly best to try & dump the tube's through the triple clamps. looks like ya can get 3" pretty easy

Thanks for the advise guys. After having another look at my motovert compared to the KTM in the pics I think i've worked out what i'm going to do. I don't want to go cutting down the internals because the forks are one of the best parts on the bike. I will drop the forks through the triple clamps though, however, because they are tapered, I can only drop it about 3cm. The main difference between the front end height on the motovert compared to the KTM is the height of the handle bars. I'll ditch the high rise clamps and Pro Taper bars in favour of a droopy set like on the KTM. This pic shows that the KTM still has full length front shockers. I'll also dump the rear of the motovert a bit too, but i think this can be done by adjusting the shock itself?

nah man the rear shock on them are only comp and reb adjustable i think not quite sure

You appear to be confusing adjusting the rear spring pre-load with adjusting the rear shock (dampening). There is a rear shock and a rear spring. Both do different things, and adjusting them does different things.

Also be warned that if the height of the rear versus the front affects the steering rake and front vs rear weight balance. If you get it wrong then either your front end will tuck and be twitchy, or it will push and wash out. Either way most likely a few crashes are coming your way. Especially in the wet. ;)

Thanks for the info guys, I might change the rear shock to something shorter. Cheers.

did you end up doing all this
i want to see pics of how it turned out
